$CHWY Earnings key takeaways

Reddit Stocks

10/06/2021 - 23:42

The biggest category everybody already looks at is Sales. Even coming out of the Pandemic Chewy's Sales increased 31.7%. Solid for any company. They are forecasting $8.9-9 billion for the year. On top of the increase in sales, Chewy also, once again, added to their Gross Margin Percentage. Adding to your Gross Margin Percentage is the equivalent of adding sales. Q1 2020 they were at 23.4% and Q1 2021 they are at 27.6% respectively. FY 2020 totaled out to 25.5%. This 2.1% increase over what they did last year will result in an additional $189 million going to their bottom line based on their forecasted $9 billion in 2021 Sales. Also, one of the most overlooked categories I usually see when people are looking at financials statements are the cash flows from Operations. Chewy's Net cash provided by operating activities was $98.3 million and their free cash flow was $59.4 million. At the end of the day, cash is always king and Chewy has been rolling it in extremely well. My takeaways (opinion). Chewy is in a prime position to continue the growth that has propelled them to where they are and should continue to see increased earnings going forward. The current valuation of the company I believe is still too low and the current market cap is less than their annual revenue. If you compare Chewy to someone like Amazon. Amazon has annual revenue of $386 billion (FY'20) and a market cap of $1.7 Trillion. This comes to 4.4X Annual Revenue. Chewy is also commanding a higher profit margin than Amazon who comes in just shy of 25%. TL/DR: Chewy keeps kicking Ass - is extremely undervalued. This is not financial advice. I'm just some dumbass. submitted by /u/bigmikey5184 [link] [comments]

  3. CHWY earnings play? (30/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Last earning call for PINS and ????, I was fairly confident in their earnings and they beat. Now the next discussion is CHWY. I am confident they will beat tomorrow when their earnings are released but I have no clue how to play this. It's down 50% from its recent high. Will it still continue to trend with other tech, growth and stay at home plays, or will it likely pop on earnings release? I ordered from Amazon before the pandemic for convenience and while I don't own a pet, I see Chewy boxes outside at most neighbors houses and don't see why anyone would go back to a store once we're fully reopened and buy stuff? It's all about convenience. Thoughts? submitted by /u/hockeyfun1 [link] [comments]

  4. WOOF. I see value. (13/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Speaking of deep value, I'm finding it in WOOF after a deep dive. It's 1/8th the valuation of CHWY with very similar market shares (approx. 5-6%) and revenues ($4B-$5B range) as of the end of 2020. Chewy is definitely growing faster rn no doubt. However, the WOOF CEO started in 2018 and came from HPQ. He was definitely blindsided by the pandemic in orchestrating the turnaround. HPQ and its stock performed very well while he was el presidente, and it actually seems to have dropped quite a bit ever since he left. Long term debt is the elephant in the room, but the IPO will cover a portion of it (maybe 1/3), and a successful turnaround will take care of the rest. I like the omnichannel focus, the brick and mortar footprint (bc of in-store veterinary services) coming out of the pandemic, and a tech oriented CEO. If they can make big inroads with marketing and customer service (seems to be their biggest issues rn), they will be on equal footing with CHWY. Another small factor is that WOOF doesn't sell the trash pet food that CHWY does. Lots of other factors of course, but I like the stock and the opportunity for a turnaround. The $97B TAM means CHWY and WOOF combined only have like 10-12% of the marketshare, which leaves plenty of room for both CHWY and WOOF to thrive and not have to fight each other tooth and nail. Not as sexy as CHWY, but I think given CHWY's current valuation there is better risk/reward and upside for WOOF. Wish there were 2022/23 leaps available. Only goes out to September 2021 rn. Anyway, I'll be buying deep ITM September calls and a sizable shares position. submitted by /u/thejoker4059 [link] [comments]

  5. CHWY- What is their moat? (01/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I see people on this subreddit hype Chewy a lot. I just don't understand what's so special about e-commerce for animals. Aside from brick-and-mortar competitors like Petsmart and Petco getting into the online businesses, Amazon and Walmart and probably use their scale to have lower prices and faster delivery than a smaller competitor like CHWY. 11. Three growth trends that Chewy (CHWY) plans to cash in on going forward (31/03/2021 - AlphaStreet)
Shares of Chewy Inc. (NYSE: CHWY) were up over 6% in afternoon trade on Wednesday. The stock has gained 138% in the past 12 months. For the fourth quarter of 2020, Chewy saw its revenue grow 51% year-over-year to $2.04 billion and the company managed to deliver a profit of $0.05 per share. For the first quarter of 2021, Chewy expects revenue to grow 36-37% YoY to $2.11-2.13 billion. For the full year of 2021, revenue is projected to grow 25-26% YoY to $8.85-8.95 billion. There are three growth trends that Chewy believes it is well-positioned to take advantage of in the foreseeable future. Pet adoption The first trend is an increase in pet adoption. According to data from industry analysts released by Chewy during its earnings call, the number of pet-owning households increased 5.7% in 2020, up significantly from the pre-pandemic five-year compound annual growth rate of 0.6%. During the year, the creation of pet profiles for puppies and kittens went up by 35% YoY and the creation of profiles for newly-adopted pets rose by 40%. The need for food and toys for these pets paves the way for more recurring revenue and growth opportunities in the coming years. Market opportunity At present, Chewy competes in approx. 70% of the $100 billion US pet market, mainly in areas like food supplies, prescription drugs and diet. The company believes it has the opportunity to expand further into areas like healthcare and services which is worth an additional $30 billion. The US pet market is projected to reach $120 billion by 2024. Chewy’s net sales for 2020 amounted to $7 billion, giving the company ample opportunity for growth and expansion in this market. Ecommerce Thirdly, the US pet market is witnessing a rise in ecommerce penetration. The rate of online penetration in the retail food and supplies category is estimated to have increased from 7% to 30% in the five years ranging from 2015 to 2020. This is projected to reach 53% in another five years, i.e. by 2025. Chewy is seeing pet-related healthcare and services move to online channels and believes this trend will continue to grow over time. The company believes these shifts to online channels are here to stay and they will provide opportunities for further growth and market share gains. As a new investor, I'm looking at indexes as a matter of interest. Looking at the UK100, I'm seeing an interesting run up around 6 months ago (september onwards perhaps?) the index in question Around this time, the UK went into lockdown again. Why would there be growth during this time? I'm speculating that theres more spending in online stores and takeaways, but for an almost 30% raise in price? If you can, help me figure this out. There must be a perspective I'm missing. I dont have any positions in the UK stock market at the moment. submitted by /u/LukeNew [link] [comments]

  24. $KOPN has been a sneaking giant (09/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
$KOPN is up 1,800% in 1 year. From below 2 in July 2020 to $8 almost being its new floor. Huge accumulation has occurred in the past 3 months. There have been recent offerings and insider selling, some of which was given to charity. Then it appeared they bought more, and have further outside buyers. Earnings are 3/9, and could be their first profitable quarter ever. The accumulation is definitely due to good earnings expectations. I am speculating $10 by EOM. $12 by earnings. Could see $20 before end of March, if reaction to earnings are as good as i expect earnings to be. 914 shares average $4.15. $5 and $7.5C 3/19. How much truth is there to this statement? When I hear this statement I often ask "What rumor? What news?" I think it might be especially important around earnings but I never know whether it will drop or bump on earnings as it seems recently everyone is expecting major earnings blowouts and still selling. (AAPL dip after earnings beat, for example) Right now I'm holding positions in CRSR and DIS and they are getting big bumps going into earnings. CRSR has gone up over 20% in the last week and earnings comes out tomorrow. Everyone is expecting it to beat expectations so when it does, will the stock dip from profit-takers no matter what? Am I better to sell today and buy a dip tomorrow? Same but for DIS. They are at ATH right now and half their revenue streams are shut down or severely limited. Who knows what earnings will say next week, perhaps this is a good exit and just wait for the after earnings dip? submitted by /u/dreamliner330 [link] [comments]

  28. AAPL Earnings Play? (22/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hey ya’ll so I am in AAPL roughly 100 Shares @128.20 most of which was bought in early January of 2021. I held through Q1 Earnings and even though Apple beat estimates (Not to mention revenue of 100 billion fucking dollars) the stock basically flatlined and even fell to a low of about 115 in the last few months. I’m wondering ya’lls thoughts on if I should sell right before earnings this time around or if I should hold through them. Personally leaning towards selling right before, but maybe with latest round of stimmy and shit Apple could rise after earnings? (Im assuming they will beat earnings again, but God knows if that will do anything) *I am not planning on holding long-long term, so it’s either sell before earnings or hold through and sell after earnings hoping it pops. submitted by /u/Krebsy13 [link] [comments]

  32. 23% of Tesla's Q1 earnings were from Bitcoin trading - and they would have missed earnings otherwise (15/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
23% of Tesla's Q1 earnings were from Bitcoin trading - and they would have missed earnings otherwise Title says it all. Tesla's earnings in the first quarter were $438 million. $101 million (23%) of that came from selling Bitcoin for profit. The other interesting part is that it would have been an earnings miss without the trading. Did one make the other happen? Considering the recent news about not allowing Bitcoin anymore, it's certainly a move worth mentioning. Curious to what you all think will happen to BB this upcoming earnings report. They have a slew of new partnerships, but unlikely to affect its earnings. The Facebook settlement will (probably) be less than expected. I think the company is gearing up to head upwards in the long run. They just rebranded their website and now finally marketing themselves as cybersecurity. Hopefully this dissociates them from the old phone making days. With all that said, its still ~6 billion market cap. Lots of potential with IVY. There are other hyped stocks that trade like 50-100x their earnings, so why can't BB? Multinational company that seems undervalued based on trailing EPS adding 4th qtr 2019 is $4.31, using expected earnings around .40 puts EPS $3.10. Assuming that earnings do come low for the 4th quarter of 2020 and annual EPS is lets say $3.00 the stock at PE of 20 should be valued at 60 and is roughly 40 now. Any reasons WHY? It's bringing manufacturing to the US and has already factories and distribution centers all around the globe. It has been very profitable for many years and earnings are on an uptrend since 2018. submitted by /u/Relondono [link] [comments]
