  3. Tesla of the skies - Archer Aviation (11/02/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Electric aircraft manufacturer Archer Aviation just announced going public though a SPAC merger with ACIC. They also announced a $1 billion aircraft order and additional investment in them through United Airlines. How's that for a vote of confidence?! Market cap of the SPAC is still under $1 billion, but it values the company around 3.8 billion. Archer currently makes small "electric vertical takeoff" aircraft, but apparently the partnership with UAL will also be to develop battery powered shorthaul aircraft. (I'm assuming bigger than the current ones?) https://www.marketwatch.com/story/archer-aviation-gets-a-1-billion-order-from-united-airlines-on-the-same-day-it-announces-a-deal-to-go-public-11612983906 submitted by /u/BebeGonzo [link] [comments]

  29. Is there a way to make a stop loss trade order based on the highest price a stock reaches that day? (20/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Im relatively new to trading and I wanted to place percentage based stop loss order (to sell) but when I tried to, it did it based on the price that the stock was when I put in the order and not the highest price the stock reached during that day. So my question is if its possible to put in (on TDA) a stop loss order which will go by the highest price the stock reaches that day (or before the order expires) and not based on the price at the time I place the order? submitted by /u/aokaf [link] [comments]

I would like to submit an order that will allow the stock to continue falling, but once it shows xzy%/$ increase, the broker should buy. Does this exist? I think it sounds a bit like a Trailing Stop Buy order, but almost everything I read about those is for a sell scenario so I'm not sure. I'm pretty new to this so just wanted to test my assumptions first. Here's the scenario I want: - StockA is at $100 and I place a buy order with a $10 trail - StockA falls to $90, $80, $70, $60; order should not execute - StockA rises to $69; order should not execute - StockA rises to $70; order should execute Am I right in thinking that a Trailing Stop Buy order with a $10 trail should behave like this? If no, is there another order that would? Cheers! submitted by /u/_bowl_ [link] [comments]

  40. Rolls-Royce share price: how the company is preparing for the air taxi market (21/02/2021 - The Motley Fool UK)
It’s pretty clear that Rolls-Royce (LSE:RR) will face some tough challenges in the next few years. Although many countries are rolling out vaccines against Covid-19, civil aviation hasn’t recovered all that much. As a result of these headwinds and previous management decisions, the Rolls-Royce share price hasn’t done well over the past 12 months when adjusting for the rights issuance — the stock is down around 59%. While the next few years might be challenging, I reckon there is still an opportunity for Rolls-Royce if management makes the right decisions, particularly in the field of electric air taxis. Here’s how Rolls-Royce is preparing for the market and how I think it could affect the Rolls-Royce share price. What are air taxis Air taxis are electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. While they were previously in the arena of science fiction, rapid improvements in battery technology have made air taxis more practical. A startup such as Archer Aviation is, in fact, hoping to produce air taxis with a range of 60 miles and a top speed of 150 miles per hour by 2023. Other startups and companies are also working on air taxi technology. Given that air taxis could save a lot of time in terms of commutes, many analysts think the market could be pretty big in the future. Airbus, for example, believes the eVTOL aircraft market could one day outpace its current business. Air taxis also fit into the green trend. Because they are electric, air taxis would also represent a more sustainable form of transportation than traditional jets that use fossil fuels. Rolls-Royce and air taxis For Rolls-Royce, air taxis are a potential growth field, and the company is already doing work in the sector. In collaboration with Airbus, Rolls-Royce has developed a propulsion system for an electric multicopter named CityAirbus with a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour. Going forward, Rolls-Royce believes distributed electric and hybrid electric propulsion technology will be important for electric taxis in the future. The company is working on developing the tech as a result. Rolls-Royce shared its projection on electric propulsion and the potential growth in air taxis:  Enabled by distributed electric propulsion, these vehicles will soar over traffic in a way that every commuter dreams about – and they could be in the skies by the early 2020s. The projected market size for these early eVTOL is roughly £1bn per year. As battery technology improves over the years, air taxis and eVTOL will become more sustainable and fly for longer ranges and at higher speeds. Rolls-Royce share price: what I’d do Although its fundamentals might not be that great from a near-term cash flow perspective, I reckon Rolls-Royce has a lot of potential in future aviation technologies given its leading R&D capabilities in aircraft engines. If management makes the right moves in the air taxi engine market, Rolls-Royce has a lot of growth potential ahead in my view. Given the current Rolls-Royce share price, I’d buy shares as a result. With that said, the next couple years will likely be challenging for Rolls-Royce and any bad management decisions could send the stock lower. If another company does better in distributed electric and hybrid electric propulsion technology, there might not be as much growth for Rolls-Royce either. 41. Don't be confused about AH trading like I was... (24/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
On TD Ameritrade, if you look at their advertisements for after-hours trading, it makes it look like you only have a limited selection of securities that can be traded after hours: https://imgur.com/nfm0XTa However, the truth is, you can trade almost any non-restricted security after hours on TDA...you just need to know the secret handshake ;) Back in January, I wanted to trade a certain stock AH, so I made an order for that stock during AH. Since I just wanted the current price, I made it a market order. Except...the order did not execute...not until 9:30 am EST the next day during regular market hours. The trick is you *have* to make your AH order a limit order; if you like the current price of the stock, then just set the limit close to the current price. Next, go to the drop-down below where you select the order type as limit, and change the Time-in-force from the default of 'Day'. Clicking the drop-down here will give several options. The second one down is 'Day+extended hours'. There is also an option for Extended-hours a.m., in case you want your order executed pre-market: https://imgur.com/VKz67Br Complete the order, and presto! Your trading AH :) submitted by /u/Tiiinygecko [link] [comments]

  48. How do you guys feel about RYCEY?? (18/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
ROLLS-ROYCE RYCEY/RYCEF stock tickers seem to be a safer long term investment. The stocks tanked after COVID ruined the world economy, and the stocks are expected to reach pre-COVID levels within the next 2-5 years at the latest. Currently, RYCEY is $1.88 per share, pre-COVID, it was sitting pretty around $8-10 per share. They did add 8 million shares during this period which created a share dilution and the company did lose about $4.5 billion dollars in the last year due to COVID, but I am confident that it will rebound, here’s why. The company has been producing turbine engines and propulsion systems for military aircraft, civil aircraft (including engines for Boeing and several other aircraft companies) and for various other applications. Being that they are the largest manufacture of engines for the RAF (British Air Force), they are government backed so they are most likely here to stay. On top of that, Rolls-Royce is getting into electric planes and they are on track to create the fastest electric plane ever made. Not only that, but they are getting involved in the energy sector. They are looking to create solutions in energy consumption and efficiency. Analysts are estimating that within the next year, the price target is at the lowest estimate $2.18, Median is $4.38 and high is $6.25. To be honest, I’m fairly new to investing but I think that this is an opportunity. I am open to other ideas and a discussion, but I wanted to ask for your input! I have 3,000 shares and am already up 21% since I first purchased at $1.55 late February. I’m thinking of holding long term, but again, I want to know what you guys think! submitted by /u/MetroJewmin [link] [comments]

  49. A hypothetical situation with rare (poor liquidity) asset question (09/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Yesterday, when screening available asset available on by brokerage account, I've noticed that some of them have almost no bids/asks at all, and maybe a few transactions during a week. I know that for stocks with good liquidity the market price is usually very close to the one you see in the live chart, but I don't know what happens in some edge cases, for example: Imagine an asset XYZ with the last market price $150 and the following sell (ask) orders: market order market order limit order at $100 limit order at $90 and no buy (bid) orders at the moment. An hour later someone makes a buy (bid) market order Would the order be executed against (3) or (1) with the price of (3)? Also, what if on both sides there was only one market order, how would then be the price calculated? submitted by /u/thecrissbehind [link] [comments]
