  8. Trailing stop loss/buy question (27/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
New to trading and had a question regarding trading software/apps. While I've seen plenty of software which will allow you to create a trailing stop loss which will monitor a stock price, and sell it if the stock takes a down turn based on predefined parameters, but I'm having a tough time finding out if anything can do the opposite. Say you own shares of a stock and have a trailing stop loss on it. The stock reaches a peak and declines in price to a point that triggers the stop loss. I'm looking for something that will then monitor the stock as it is declining, then once the price begins rebounding, will automatically buy me back in on the stock if the stock price reaches a predefined parameter. What would such a function be called, a trailing buy? Maybe I'm just not using the right terminology. submitted by /u/starmandan [link] [comments]

Facebook is readying its first smartwatch for next summer, opening up a new front against growing rival Apple, and Fitbit owner Google. The watch will feature a display with two cameras that can be detached from the wrist in order to take pictures and videos (easing quick sharing to the platforms, including Instagram), according to the report. As with smartphones, a front-facing camera is there to enable video calling, while a 1080p autofocus camera on the back can be used while detached. It also features a heart rate monitor that will allow for positioning as a fitness device. Notably, Facebook is working with U.S. wireless carriers to support LTE connectivity, meaning the watch would not need to be paired with a phone to operate. The company has spent about $1B to develop the first version of the watch - which has been discussed as pricing about $400 - and it's reportedly working on the second and third generations for later release. 19. I’ve analyzed the websites of the top 3000 public companies and their traffic. Here are the ones whose traffic is growing the most dynamically. (24/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I don’t know how useful this information will be to you, but I see some interesting underrated stocks on this list. Hope it will help you too. TL;DR: $SAVA, $RIOT, $OCGN, $PNM, $MTCH 1. Cassava Sciences Inc. ($SAVA) - biopharmaceutical company focused on neuroscience. Traffic has increased due to the rapid progress in the development of a drug from Alzheimer’s disease. $SAVA 2. Riot Blockchain Inc. ($RIOT) - bitcoin mining company which maintains bitcoin blockchain. Everything is quite obvious here - the company is associated with bitcoin, so the more world’s interest in bitcoin - the more interest in $RIOT (just my opinion, perhaps the reason is different). $RIOT 3. Ocugen Inc. ($OCGN) - same as for $SAVA, it’s a biopharmaceutical company. I think the traffic has increased due to the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. $OCGN PNM Resources Inc. ($PNM) - electricity provider, energy holding company. The reason for the sharp increase in website’s traffic is not clear to me here. Apparently these guys know how to do their business. $PNM Match Group Inc. ($MTCH) - The reasons for the traffic’s growth are not obvious here as well. Most likely it grows organically. $MTCH I do not have clear statistical evidence that the traffic to the website is related to the stock price, but following the usual logic - if the website’s traffic has increased by more than 1000 times, then it may affect the stock’s price. submitted by /u/vilnitskiy [link] [comments]

  22. 3DPRINTEROS ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF OCTOPRINT TO EASE 3D PRINTER INTEGRATION. (22/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Software developer 3D Control Systems, the parent company of 3DPrinterOS, has become a corporate sponsor of open source interface OctoPrint to help ease 3D printer integration processes. Through its 3DPrinterOS platform, the company will help users and companies integrate Octoprint into their 3D printing workflows by means of its new 3D Printer Software Development Kit. By offering integration as a software service, the partners are hoping to save customers time and money on developing their own software to fully integrate OctoPrint with their systems. “I’m really happy to welcome 3DPrinterOS on board as a corporate sponsor of OctoPrint,” said Gina Häußge, OctoPrint creator and software engineer. “We share the goal to make 3D printing more accessible and easier for everyone, so this is great news.” Open-source 3D printing with OctoPrint Octoprint was founded by Häußge just under a decade ago, and has grown into a highly expansive and powerful open-source tool that allows a user to control and monitor 3D printers remotely. The platform began with an open-source foundation, and has adapted and expanded since 2012 to become a symbol of importance within the open-source 3D printing community. Alongside increasing the accessibility of 3D printing, the platform also has security and safe remote access at its heart. As such, the platform is widely used by the 3D printing community to control and monitor many aspects of print runs. While integrations for the platform have been continually developed over the years as more and more companies seek to integrate OctoPrint into their 3D printing workflows, not all businesses have the funds or resources necessary to carry out their own in-house programming to incorporate it. Easing 3D printer integration The partnership between 3DPrinterOS and OctoPrint aims to ease integration processes between the open-source interface and FFF/FDM 3D printers. 3DPrinterOS’ new 3D Printer Software Development Kit will enable users and companies to integrate OctoPrint into their 3D printing workflows without having to develop their own software. The Software Development Kit is available as a free download and as a paid-for premium version equipped with advanced features, offering integration as a software service. Becoming a corporate sponsor of OctoPrint also means that every printer sold with a 3DPrinterOS license provides monetary support to various communities. “We are excited to help the community take 3D printers to market by making it easy to integrate open source software like OctoPrint, and help customers program all these different softwares to work exactly as they need them to, all in one place,” said John Dogru, President, Founder and Chief Architect at 3DPrinterOS. Simplifying 3D printing workflows 3D Control Systems has provided advanced file management and job preparation capabilities to the desktop 3D printing sector through 3DPrinterOS since 2014. The idea behind the platform’s formation was to bring 3D printing technology out from behind the so-called “walled gardens” of machine-specific operating systems and grant users access to slicing, workflows, and multiple printer management in one standardized place. 3DPrinterOS was created as an easy-to-use and accessible cloud platform to manage networked and remote 3D printers, as well as a system for the secure handling of digital 3D files. The subsidiary has previously formed partnerships with the likes of Siemens, Dassault Systèmes, Autodesk, and Onshape in order to simplify the design-to-print process, and has also embarked upon offering education and training to students by teaming up with global 3D printing technology providers including Dynamism, 3D Connectors, 3D Printlife, CreativeTools, and 3Dortgen. In February this year, 3D Control Systems announced it is now targeting industrial 3D printing with its new ZAP workflow management software. The AI-powered platform aims to help manufacturers cut their operational costs and improve production efficiency with a full suite of production management functionalities. The ZAP platform is ultimately designed to eliminate the problem of multiple brands of 3D printers not communicating with each other and harmonize entire manufacturing facilities with end-to-end encrypted remote management. 23. If you had access to any kind of software or app for trading, what would you want it to be capable of? (31/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Let’s say there was an unlimited amount of trading software available or you had the ability to create your own trading software or app. What would you want this software/app to be capable of? How would you use it? What features would it have? What would you have it look like? Would it be a mobile app or computer only app or both? I’m currently working on an API to automate my trading, because that’s my biggest need. I have had to learn some programming and am diving deeper into it. But I was thinking to myself, what kinds of features or capabilities are other people looking for? I day trade and have some fairly complex strategies that require me to only be able to be in 1 strategy at a time since most of my strategies require to be in multiple positions. I know some of you have some crazy strategies too, so I’m wondering, what are you needs? I’m intrigued. I also want to know if it is even possible to build the type of software that people are looking for. Let’s find out. submitted by /u/BullMarketCowboy [link] [comments]

  33. The Next Tech Software Play: Acquisition-Driven Vertical Market Software? (14/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Is the next Tech software play in acquisition-driven vertical market software? Constellation Software may cut dividend, plans to pursue bigger deals Constellation Software (CSU) is a much younger version of Roper Technologies (ROP). Think Berkshire Hathaway plus technology. Also, the scope of the software offerings is broader for the former than for the latter. This little-known Canadian play in vertical market software returned at least 3600% between mid-2010 and mid-2020. More importantly, the stock went up even as interest rates went up in 2016, because all acquisition targets were already profitable and cash-flow-generating businesses, and were also bought at a discount. In other words, all acquisitions were a corporate exercise in value investing. In turn, this company has a little brother of its own, also Canadian-based: Enghouse Systems (ENGH). The earlier question isn't about any of the aforementioned companies specifically. Is there potential for one or more "next Constellation Softwares" that are in the business of acquisitions for building vertical market software empires as lucrative as the above, especially as we come closer to 2023-2024 and beyond? [Such plays could "stonk" even while the rest of the tech bubble pops, so long as their acquisitions are corporate exercises in value investing.] submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  37. New research: top 5 public companies on traffic’s growth over the past month (08/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I’ve analyzed the traffic of 3000 websites of public companies and here are the ones, website’s traffic of which was growing most dynamically in March. This is a continuation of a series of posts related to the indirect metrics of public companies, here are the rest - traffic’s growth for 6 months period, number of employees, hiring dynamics. Why am I doing this? I believe that indirect companies' metrics are related to their stock price. When more historical data accumulates, I will try to find a statistical correlation between the indirect indicators of the company's performance (traffic, employees, ratings from employees, behavior in social networks) with its stock price and publish a post with the results of my whole research. Below you can find a list of the top 5 companies based on traffic’s growth: 1. AKKS Pacific Inc. ($JAKK) - cheap enough stocks that have been decreasing in price for the past 5 years. It seems to me that the company is actively shorting similar to GME. They produce toys and consumer products; $JAKK 2. TuanChe Limited ($TC) - cheap stock price, similarly. It’s a chinese company engaged in the automotive marketplace; $TC 3. WEX Inc. ($WEX) - provider of payment processing and information management services to the United States commercial and government vehicle fleet industry; $WEX 4. Canoo ($GOEV) - the current stock price is $10. This company is a manufacturer of electric vehicles; $GOEV 5. Kansas City Southern ($KSU) - transportation holding company. The reasons for the traffic’s growth are not obvious here for me. $KSU submitted by /u/vilnitskiy [link] [comments]
