The smoking gun paragraph reads as follows: “Primary dealer cash borrowing in the repo market, including borrowing from FRBNY’s temporary open market operations, stood at $2.5 trillion as of September 30, 2020….” FRBNY stands for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the regional Fed bank that initiated the repo loans to Wall Street’s trading houses on September 17, 2019 and reported them daily through June until the designated page on its website began to report zeros for loans being requested by the trading houses (primary dealers) and accepted by the New York Fed." 5. ELI5: Who can clarify my doubt on the REPO market? (21/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Hello everyone, I was reading about the REPO operations done by the Federal Reserve. From here you can see that in a REPO operation the FED "purchases Treasury, agency debt, or agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) from a counterparty subject to an agreement to resell the securities at a later date". From the FED point of view, this is a Reverse REPO and therefore they should receive the interest on the cash lent. From here you can see the details of the REPO operation. To enter in a REPO with the FED, the minimum Bid rate is the Interest On Excess Reserves (10 bp) + 5 bp. This to me makes sense, as if the rate was lower than the Interest On Excess Reserve, a counterparty could enter a REPO, pay the FED the REPO rate and invest the obtained cash at the Interest On Excess Reserves, getting free money. However, here you can see the REPO rates. And it is just 0.01%! How is it possible? And if an institution enters in a REPO with the FED and pays 0.01%, couldn't they just exploit the arbitrage mentioned above? Final doubt: in this article from Reuters, they say that since the REPO rate has gone negative a few times, investors prefer entering in a Reverse REPO at 0%. But why bothering doing the operation at all at 0% and not keep the money on the account? submitted by /u/0100110001100011 [link] [comments]

  7. Recent reverse repo volume increases: what are the real implications? (26/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Overnight reverse repo volume has been increasing steadily as of late. Quote from https://wtvbam.com/2021/05/25/fed-reverse-repo-volume-sparks-worries-u-s-short-term-rates-could-go-below-zero/: “Volume at the Fed’s overnight reverse repo window surged to $433 billion on Tuesday, according to New York Fed data. Analysts said that was the third largest uptake ever, the biggest being $474.6 billion on Dec. 31, 2015. A little over two months ago, around mid-March, there was zero reverse repo activity.“ I’ve seen a lot of Reddit posts about this in subs related to the stock which shall not be named, but none in other subs. I am wondering what other people think the real implications are of this? (besides being a reason to HODL) It seems to me there is either too much cash in the system or not enough t-bills, or both? And the fed will soon be forced to stop buying$120B in bonds every month (ie, QE) and/or raise the overnight repo rate and IOER rate? It seems the Fed is struggling this year to keep these rates above 0 (opposite of spike that happened in Sep 2019) The market is pretty smart so has it already priced in a quicker start to interest rate increases and/or end of QE? Or could this cause a shock and a severe stock price correction this summer? 15. Why would a bank enter in a Reverse REPO with the FED at 0% when the Interest On Excess Reserves is at 0.10%? (13/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
You can see here the REPO and Reverse REPO operations done with the FED. From the FED point of view, in a REPO, they lend money to a counterparty that gives a Bond as guarantee, in a Reverse REPO, the FED borrows liquidity from a counterparty in exchange for a Bond. For example, yesterday, 39 counterparties lent to the FED 209 Billions at 0%. As you can see in the link, there are counterparties that lend to the FED at 0%. But why would they do that when the Interest On Excess Reserves is positive at 0.10%? Couldn't they just park the cash as reserves held by the FED gaining 0.10% instead of lending to the FED at 0%? Am I missing something? submitted by /u/0100110001100011 [link] [comments]

Despite all this, their market cap sits at a measly 2 billion dollars, despite pulling in $8.7 Billion in revenue. 36. Roblox is insanely overpriced (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I know that no one likes a bear and furthermore people feel connected to this stock since their kids play the game or because it's a video game and it's fun to invest in that stuff but facts over feelings when dealing with money because it has no feelings. So first we have to base our value, the company raised 528 million$ from private sources last year at a valuation of 28 billion dollars. It later Ipo'd at a base valuation of 32 billion with 40$ stock price only to rise to 77$ and a market cap of 40.56 billion. The problem with this is Microsoft bought Mojang (so essentially the Minecraft IP) for 2.5 billion in late 2014 when they had 38 million in revenue which is relatively nothing compared to RBLX now but in when we go back in time to just 2017 it had relatively only 45 million in revenue vs Minecraft's 350 million. Now let's go to last year when Minecraft had a monthly active user base of 130 million players vs Rblx's 150 million. It also had 953 million dollars in profit but with 253 million in net losses. Now compare that to Minecraft who had a revenue of 415 million which is up significantly from the previous years 375 million and it becomes clear that Roblox is very overvalued. Furthermore to show the point we have another Microsoft purchase, this time of Zenimax Media inc for 7.5 billion $ for properties like TES, DOOM, Fallout, Dishonored, Starfield and many more with a wide variety of studios included like Bethesda, Zenimax, Tango, Arkane (Deathloop), Id and Machine Games . Just in that bundle Doom Eternal (1 game) had revenue of 350 million dollars and Skyrim with lifetime revue of over 620 million. The last showing of this is Sony's purchase of Insomniac in 2018 for 229 million dollars and since then have created 2 games that have raked in more than the initial investment with Spiderman 2018 and Spiderman MM having brought in approximately 250-270 million $ and with another game in the pipeline with Ratchet and Clank A rift in Time. Final note: EA's entire market cap which consists of Madden, Battlefield, Fifa and many other titles is at 30 billion, Take Two which is GTA, Red Dead, 2k and many others is valued at 20 billion, the thought that Roblox is worth more than both these titans combined is insane. submitted by /u/Krios625 [link] [comments]

  37. Newegg (NEGG) Confusion (21/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Is it just me or is this stock tremendously undervalued? They currently have a market cap of 65 Million, despite reporting total assets of nearly 400 million a few years ago. With about 3 Billion dollars in revenue, even if they only take home 1% of their revenue, that's 30 Million dollars earned each year. I'm not telling everyone to buy NEGG, I'm just legitimately confused, I can't find much information on their Debt-to-income, I'm legitimately confused by their market cap, as well as their strange (reverse?) merger with a Chinese wearables company. There isn't much information I have been able to find using the ole' google, so if anyone has usable information that would be awesome submitted by /u/Buris [link] [comments]

  42. The market is only giving blackberry a total valuation of 1.5 - 2 billion, ivy, qnx, spark everything (21/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Patent sale could bring in any where from 1 to 2 billion, they already have 800 million cash Let’s just say it’s 2 billion for now + 800 million 2.8 billion BB market cap this morning was 4.6 billion 4.6 minus 2.8 billion cash on hand = 1.8 billion They are giving blackberry the WHOLE company, with 68% ev market share, spark security, Amazon partnership with ivy, qnx in 175 million vehicles, 700 - 900 million revenue per year a valuation of 1.8 billion Let me say it again, the whole company for only 1.8 billion valuation After the covid crash last year BB market cap hit 1.7 billion, so after including potential cash on hand BB is trading at the same market cap today right now as it was at the bottom of covid crash submitted by /u/BlueManifest [link] [comments]

  43. SQ is trading at an absolute bargain right now (13/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I just wanna point this out for people who might be afraid to buy this stock right now. SQ is trading at a 7 PS ratio, that’s more than half of what it was on dec 22nd 2020. The only times it’s traded at a lower PS ratio than this post 2017 were Dec 2018, Aug 2019-Jan 2020 and March 2020 - May 2020. If you bought this stock in June 2020 or February 2020 you were buying it at an 8 PS ratio which is a higher valuation than what it is today. Let’s compare this to PYPL. PYPL is growing at a steady 30% Y/Y and currently trading at a 12 PS ratio. SQs revenue growth Y/Y for the latest quarter is 266% and for the 2 previous ones it was over 100% for both. So SQ is growing revenue this fast yet trading at 2/3 the value of PYPL Also in June 2020 PYPL reported 5.26 billion in revenue and had a market cap of around 180 billion, last quarter SQ reported 5.06 billion in revenue and has a market cap of 89 billion With a valuation like this how much more will these growth stocks sell off? and why are people afraid to buy more with bargains like this submitted by /u/HubertNeutron [link] [comments]
