I love what we are doing to the stock market. This is pure gold guys. Thank you for the entertainment. I don’t know if coke and strippers is better than this at this point because it’s been hell entertaining. This is definitely way better than watching a movie at a theater lol(though save AMC right?). Is anyone else noticing how many stocks get stuck at .69 cents or $420? $4.20? $69.69? Seems like 1:2 stock trades ends in a .69, whether it’s at $1.69, $69.69, or $100.69. I watched SNDL get stuck multiple times on $2.69 and TLRY stuck at $42.00 or $42.69. GME got stuck at $420.69 for a while. This is pure gold. However, I did shoot myself in the foot on a stock because I bought it for $6.90 years ago and every time it climbs up it stops at $6.90. I don’t know if that one will ever make me a dime or if I just should sell for even. Personally I prefer to 68 instead of 69. You go down on me and I’ll owe you one. Keep up the 69’ing guys! submitted by /u/PUTYOURBUTTINMYBUTT [link] [comments]

The U.S. dollar index (DXY) did not make a significant pullback despite my expectations posted earlier this month. 27. NovoCure-NVCR Big Wigs getting rich : we need to sell our shares! Make the fake pumped up stock price crash! (16/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I’m a small dollar trader and I’m tired of big companies manipulating the common average trader! Check out NVCR, Novocure- they recently had some positive results come back from a third-party tester on one of their products, and it made their stock skyrocket. They pumped it up and many investors jumped in on this ride up and got stuck as other news came out that the results may not be all they’re cracked up to be. And now all the bigwigs at the company are selling off their stock and these regular investors are getting stuck. I think as a group anybody in this chat and reading this if you are holding Miracle cure sell it now so these bigwigs can’t make a huge pumped up profit. submitted by /u/Majestic_Law_7735 [link] [comments]

  34. 5 Considerations When Picking Stocks for Long-Term Growth (27/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Like many of you, I started actively investing a year and a half ago. The recent rotation was a rude awakening for me because it specifically impacted growth, tech, and renewables (the majority of my holdings). I have since taken on a cautiously aggressive strategy of picking individual stocks that pass five tests. I wanted to run my theory by this group to hear your thoughts. Note, I’m not trying to find deep value stocks or ten-baggers or anything – just solid doers that have a good chance of outperforming the market for many years to come. Test 1: Will I feel good owning this six years from now? Think of getting your driver’s license photo taken. When I most recently renewed my license, I had a huge beard, and now I’m stuck with that photo for most of my 30s. Of course you don’t need to hold a stock that long. But I think it’s a good framework for analyzing stocks, because they really should be longer term investments. Is this a company that will still be doing well in six years? Can I take myself seriously holding this for that long? Test 2: What’s the P/E ratio? Nothing new here. But it’s usually the next thing I consider. 12 to 24 great. 25 to 34 understandable. 35-49 caution. 50+ or negative, too speculative. Test 3: Did it already moon? This was an oversight with one of my original picks. The stock had been trading in the teens in 2019 and was around $100/share when I first bought it. Averaging down is no fun. If a stock mooned anytime in the last 5 years, you might have to accept you missed the ticket. Check 10, 20+ years back for older companies to gain more context. Test 4: How linear is its growth? Ideally I’d like to see a perfectly straight line over the past 5 years. Something that steadily marches upward over time with minimal volatility, and something that has gained between roughly 125-250% over the past 5 years. While I think lots of companies will do well as companies, I’m hesitant to invest in them if their history looks like a roller coaster. I especially take note of how a company did through 2018-2019, how it did before the Covid crash vs. after, and how it did these past couple months. Test 5: How are their quarterly earnings? Maybe this goes without saying, but I think a company's profitability is a good indication of whether it will do well in the future. It’s nice to see the past 5 earning reports beat expectations, though 4 out of 5 isn’t bad either. Of course, it’s hard for any stock to pass all five tests, and if I was a purist I probably wouldn’t be very diversified. Some stocks that fit closely with these criteria include UNP, GOOGL, V, HD, DG, TMO, SPGI, and TXN. (This is not financial advice.) Can you think of any others? submitted by /u/MinnesotaPower [link] [comments]

  36. CANADIAN DOLLAR FLIES THROUGH TURBULENCE (02/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
The Canadian Dollar was hobbled last week, nearly falling through key technical levels as the global bond yield spike hit growth-linked assets. Certainly, with the Canadian vaccination effort proving lackluster relative to some of its G10 counterparts, there was at least one duly noted fundamental reasons for why the Canadian Dollar’s rally was troubled. But among the CAD-crosses,despite turbulent price action. the major technical thresholds were never tripped. Now that risk appetite has returned with global equities turning higher, more gains may be ahead yet for the Loonie via major pairs like USD/CAD and CAD/JPY. submitted by /u/TommyWoodds [link] [comments]
