I don’t own any stocks currently, but I watch the stock market because for some odd reason I find it interesting. Two days ago we had a fairly big dip and all the headlines were talking about the new Covid variants causing fear in the market. This makes no sense to me, because we have had these variants for a long time and why would a large number of people randomly be afraid of COVID on one day? Then, of course, we have gains the next two days like nothing happened. Is someone manipulating the market so they can buy? Hello there, I’m just curious about how you guys started investing in stocks, and I’d like to ask some questions that I’d be grateful if you answered. You do not have to answer all of them, but it’s strongly preferred. here as follows: What age did you start investing? Why and how did you start investing? Do you still invest (I’m assuming yes if you’re on this subreddit lol) What advice would you give to someone looking to invest in stocks for the first time? How did you choose what stocks you invested in? What is an emerging market that’s worth investing in your opinion? What types of sticks do you personally think people should avoid? What do you think your stocks will look like in the upcoming months? Have you ever made a mistake when investing in stocks? If so, can you elaborate? What would you do if your stocks began to rapidly decline? What are some other things you can invest in aside from stocks, and do you think people are aware of those options? Anything else you’d like to share? submitted by /u/Hornypizza6969 [link] [comments]

  27. I figured out the stock market. (21/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I've been following the stock market and noticed a very specific pattern. I've been using this to my benefit and it has been working out great. YTD realized gain Jan : 57.6 k gain Feb: 95.0 k gain Mar: 30.8 k gain Apr: 28.3k gain as of yesterday 4/20/2021 This is from an initial 350k capital. No meme stock - well I did get 5k or so from G-M-E Here's the thing, I have three automatic watches. The type that if you don't wear them for a few days, they stop. So I've been rotating them every few days or so. I've notice that whenever I am wearing a black dial watch, the market tanks. When I wear a white dial watch market moons. The green dial watch is inconclusive at the moment. I'll try it out for the next few weeks/months to get more data on it. I've only got the green watch this year so it's too early to tell. I was wearing a black dial watch yesterday and shorted NVDA, HD and have Netflix puts. I also bought back my TSLA calls and bought a bunch of XOM shares. Over all, net around 11k gain yesterday. I am wearing a green watch today so I have no idea what's going on. submitted by /u/paq12x [link] [comments]

  31. Is Cramer the only reason to watch CNBC? (20/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I was thinking tonight after getting my nightly Mad Money and Lightning Round fix - lets face it - without Cramer, CNBC just wouldn't be the same. In fact, I probably wouldn't watch it, maybe save for Downtown JB! To me Cramer is the main attraction for the channel and while everybody seems to enjoy making fun of him, etc, they secretly tune in to more or less to see what he has to say. I know that for myself, when Cramer is off for the week, I get depressed. I need my nightly fix! To me though, I take what he says more or less with a grain of salt and it's predominantly entertainment. His fast unintelligible talking is also irritating half the time, but I still watch. I must say though that I also enjoy the Chartmaster and Tom Lee is cool also. But CNBC needs Cramer and they know it! submitted by /u/apooroldinvestor [link] [comments]

We have been on a bull run for a while. A slight pull back is healthy. I have used the downturn to buy another $20,000 of stocks this morning. Now is the time to buy as the market has given you good deals. We have good news around the corner. The vaccine is causing a massive drop in infections according to public covid data. By summer there should be enough vaccines for all Americans. I think that if this happens then there should be a stock market rally. There’s debate where this will be at. Will the rally be mostly the beaten down stocks, will it be the tech stocks will it be covid vaccine stocks. Anyway, don’t freak out too much unless you are on margin you can sit this storm out and put more savings into the market. 42. 2 FTSE 250 stocks to watch! Are Royal Mail and FirstGroup shares worth buying? (31/03/2021 - The Motley Fool UK)
The FTSE 250 was hard hit by the pandemic last year, but some companies grabbed the opportunity to shine and saw their share prices soar. Royal Mail Group (LSE:RMG) and FirstGroup (LSE:FGP) have both surprised shareholders for the better. So, do they now look like good long-term investments for me? FTSE 250 Dividend payer FTSE 250 stock Royal Mail has made an impressive comeback. After dying a death from 2018 until Covid-19 hit last year, the company has staged a remarkable turnaround. The Royal Mail share price is up 313% in a year and 15% in a month. Best of all, the company has announced it will pay a one-off final dividend to loyal shareholders of 10p a share on 6 September. This creates a 1.9% dividend yield. After years of witnessing the demise of its letters business, it took the bull by the horns to focus on improving its parcels business. This has paid off handsomely as lockdowns encouraged a rise in e-commerce and sending gifts through the post. The company now expects adjusted operating profit to come in at £700m. This is double year-on-year. Its price-to-earnings ratio is 32 and earnings per share are 16p. While the good news is long overdue, there’s still concern that it’s a direct reflection of the Covid-19 environment we’re living in. Whether the parcels business will continue to thrive post-pandemic remains to be seen. It’s a competitive arena, and Royal Mail will need to be vigilant to stay ahead of the game. I’m pleased to see Royal Mail doing so well after years of bad news, but I think I’ve missed the boat with the share price rise and I’m not tempted to buy the shares today. Will FirstGroup be fully booked? Bus company FirstGroup has also seen its share price rise spectacularly in the past year. It’s up almost 90%, but volatility remains fierce. With Covid-19 lockdowns dragging on a lot longer than anyone predicted, road and rail passenger travel has been extremely low. But with summer approaching and lockdowns’ end in sight, there’s strong belief that the buses and trains will be busy again. In the US, it runs a school bus business called First Student, along with its Greyhound coach travel. Both endured a 50% drop in revenues last year. First Bus in the UK fell 59%, but First Rail enjoyed a revenue increase of 30% as summer 2020 lockdowns eased and passenger demand soared. Having looked at its historical price, I’m not tempted by this share. It’s been on a downward trajectory since 2007. With its US presence, I think it could still face challenges ahead. The director of the US public health agency, (CDC) shocked America on Monday when she said she has a feeling of impending doom and is very scared a fourth wave of Covid-19 is about to hit. It also has around £3bn of debt. Both these FTSE 250 stocks are British companies that I’d like to see thrive. They’ve done surprisingly well this past year, but continue to face challenges ahead. I’m nervous of investing when the share price has already risen rapidly and I think there are more appealing shares elsewhere. 47. Thoughts On The Calls For The Next 10-20% Correction. (28/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Earlier today I was listening to an interesting interview with an analyst who was being interviewed on CNBC regarding the direction of the market going into the second half of the year. At this point, the analyst said that the market is most likely going to experience a 10-20% correction in the second half of the year but this will likely be viewed by investors as a buying opportunity and that the market will likely finish the year at current levels. So, what the analyst is essentially saying is that they want to be able to buy stocks at much lower levels than we are at currently and be able to make another 10-20% before year end. These calls for the market to correct 10-20% are nothing more than the powerful wall street analyst wanting to be able to buy stocks at much lower levels where they feel more comfortable and can make much more money than just holding their current positions. So, if they truly believe that the market will end the year at current levels then why do we need a correction? submitted by /u/Original-Increase243 [link] [comments]

  48. MUST READ CRAZY POTENTIAL (16/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Alright guys I don't post much but I believe I should share some of my knowledge. I truly believe WKHS is one of the best stocks to be in at the moment and here is why: 1) Currently it is the most shorted stock holding 53% SI of FF as reported by Ortex. 2) It also has a lot of hype built around it with it being one of the most mentioned stocks on WSB discussion data as reported by Quiverqant. 3) On top of that, the market cap is very low compared to other companies such as AMC, do not get me wrong I am not trying to downplay other companies but I am just trying to compare it to the legendary meme stock. AMC's market cap is currently 21.48B and WKHS is at only 1.86B. When AMC was at 11.45 it only had a market cap of 5.37B. Also AMC had less short interest more than half of what WKHS has when it popped off from this level. Say WKHS gets similar love that AMC had, it could legit shoot like crazy. If WKHS is at a 20B market cap, which is very likely due to more than double the amount of short interest, this will put WKHS shares at a valuation of around $164 per share. Even if it only gets a market cap of 5B, this will put WKHS shares at a valuation of $41 per share. Overall, I see crazy potential with this stock and I truly believe that this is one of the hottest stocks in the market as of right now!
