  8. TME - Tencent Music Entertainment Group, excited for earnings! ???? (22/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I like the stock. I bought at $14.28 per share to complement my existing TCEHY position and ended up consolidating all into TME. Untapped potential in midst of booming momentum music streaming. Views on China companies seem to be skewed due to mainstream coverage of Alibaba’s government conflicts. Albeit Chinas govt does encroach on the growth and prosperity of its internet companies, TCHEY nearly falls into the same too big too fail category as BABA. Music streaming trends have only benefited from latest macro impacts due to covid. Also on the watchlist is VIVHY Vivendi SE. I closed this position which I entered at 20.71 per share and exited at 30.02 per share. VIVHY had a big stock uptick of approx. 22% on news that it would distribute 60% of subsidiary Universal Music Group's share capital to shareholders and list the music label in Amsterdam by the end of the year. I’m excited for TME earnings today and hope for similar news related stock reaction in the near future. Also AMC ???? submitted by /u/Slap_Me_Silly_ [link] [comments]

  11. Universal Music Group IPO / Spin Off (09/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hey Guys, so I was looking to Invest into the Universal Music Group spin off hopefully later this year. Tencent recently bought 20% of the Company at a 30 Billion Valuation, so Vivendi decided in February to Spin Off 60% of Universal Music Group to Investors. I assume the offering price for the company will be around 30 bln as well since the Tencent purchase only happened recently. As far as I understand they will distribute Shares of UMG to Vivendi Shareholders via a special asset dividend. It is also mentioned, that they will List the Stock onto the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. Does this mean, that I have to own Vivendi Shares in order to receive Universal Stocks at IPO or will I also be able to buy them directly on the Stock Exchange on IPO Day without owning Vivendi Stock? Thanks alot! submitted by /u/NickyBarnes87 [link] [comments]

  37. Is Spotify (SPOT) worthy of my investment dollar? (07/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I am pretty much torn over SPOT. I have used Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. I have to say that playlists and recommendations from Spotify are the best. Even though I love using Spotify, I am not sure whether I should put any money into the stock. The main issue I have with SPOT is it is the only company in the music streaming game that needs to make money off of music streaming. All the other companies (AAPL, AMZN, GOOG) don't have to make a penny from their music streaming services because these companies have way more profitable lines of businesses. Besides, music streaming does not have any economy of scale to speak of. The more users you have, the more music is getting streamed, the more royalties you have to pay out. Any thoughts on why SPOT should have a spot in my stock portfolio? Am I missing something? submitted by /u/Asleep_Cup_1337 [link] [comments]

  40. Earnings calendar for the week of May 17 (16/05/2021 - AlphaStreet)
Benchmark stock indexes pared their recent gains early this week amid elevated inflation concerns, but regained a part of the momentum later aided by recovery in tech stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added around 500 points since Thursday’s open, while S&P 500 gained 1.7%. Meanwhile, labor market conditions continued to improve, with weekly jobless claims falling to a fresh pandemic low. The market witnessed some important deals this week and the one that caught everyone’s attention was fashion retailer L Brand’s decision to spin off its popular lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret. In a key development, shareholders of Alexion Pharma approved the purchase of the European vaccine major AstraZeneca. Meanwhile, network gear maker Cisco revealed plans to acquire event-management solutions provider Socio Labs and another tech firm Kenna Security. 43. Buy Tencent(TCEHY) if you want to own Roblox(RBLX) with less risk (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I think Roblox is a great company with a bright future, but I also think they are incredibly overvalued. SURPRISE!!! You CAN be bullish on a company AND think it's overvalued. They aren't mutually exclusive sentiments! Luckily you can invest in RBLX by proxy by investing in Tencent(TCEHY)! Tencent is a Chinese company that is the gatekeeper for all video games in China. They are the largest gaming company in the world and they also own WeChat. Notable gaming companies in Tencent's portfolio include Riot Games(100% ownership) Sharkmob (100% ownership) Funcom (100% ownership) Supercell (85% ownership) Grinding Gears (80% ownership) Roblox(49% ownership) Epic Games(40% ownership) Fatshark (36% ownership) Kakao (13.5% owernship) Bluehole (11.5% ownership) Ubisoft (5% ownership) Activision/Blizzard (5% ownership) Yes Tencent owns 49% of Roblox. While owning Tencent is a great way to gain exposure to Roblox, at the end of the day they are a Chinese company. Which means that comes with a lot of it's own risks due to China's authoritarian regime and geopolitical relations with the US. submitted by /u/taiwansteez [link] [comments]

  44. Amazon spent $11 billion on video and music content last year, up from $7.8 billion in 2019 (15/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/15/amazon-spent-11-billion-on-video-and-music-content-last-year.html Amazon spent $11 billion on video and music content in 2020, up from $7.8 billion a year earlier. The company ramped up spending on video and music content as consumers spent more time indoors and looking at screens amid the coronavirus pandemic Amazon is heading to the right direction as the company spending more on video and music content. This will help amazon to attract more prime members and let customers enjoy more quality contents fo paying prime membership. This is also a good move to help defend the competition from Netflix and Disney+. As some faang stocks are breaking new high everyday, amazon should be able to break 52 weeks high this year. submitted by /u/coolcomfort123 [link] [comments]
