  6. Going heavy with ETFs? (05/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I want to get into investing since my savings have been just sitting there (10K). I'm a passive investor so I consider a yearly return of 10% a great goal and I thought of dividing my portfolio in 70% ETFs and 30% stocks (no options or shorts). My brokerage account doesn't offer fractional shares (I live in Mexico) and I really wanted to buy a amazon share although it would take about 30% of my whole portfolio is it worth it? What ETFs do you recommend? I thought VOO or VTI, QCLN, VT. submitted by /u/isaacm0972 [link] [comments]

Even though I like doing DD on single stocks, I have the urge to get 1 or 2 world ETFs or S&P 500 ETFs (or other ETFs?) to keep my portfolio at balance. Not looking for a tech heavy ETF as my portfolio already is. I’m struggling in comparing for example S&P 500 ETFs. Are those technically not the same? How do you compare them? 18. How to invest in the future of water (24/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I've been looking at these ETFs: FIW PHO CWW CGW PIO EBLU (in order of preference) I just put them all into Trading View Charts and noticed FIW doing the best and EBLU the worst. I also used other compare tools, and noticed the same pattern again. FIW always coming out on top and EBLU at the bottom. I noticed PHO had better fundamentals than FIW even though FIW was always the top line in the performance chart? FIW seems more international while PHO is mostly USA, so I will probably have to discount PHO, as I want more international exposure in this sub-industry! CWW is based in Canada and pays quarterly dividends. So far, I'm leaning toward FIW. Or Maybe CWW (as I am in Canada). Is there something else I can try to get a more concentre understanding of how to compare ETFs effectively? EDIT: I'm more interested in water conservation and clean water technologies of the future. As well as water as a form renewable energy. The key phrase is "future of water". I don't really want the ETF for its municipal exposure. But because I don't know which stocks are which, I consider the ETF approach. Ideally, I'd like to know the tickers, and forget the ETF. But only companies that are innovative and tech-focused. submitted by /u/zanoo911 [link] [comments]

Hi, I'm quite new to investing with some questions. I'm a non us citizen (also non us resident) living in Canada/Korea and was thinking of start building my portfolio by filling it with mainly ETFs like VOO/VTI. Given that my gains get taxed both in the US and my country of residence, would it still be worth it to invest in US ETFs or should i rather channel my time and resources on what I have here in my home country? I know it's hard to say without giving more context about the stock market here, but I'd also like to hear from other foreigners whose portfolios are mainly comprised of US ETF/stocks/bonds. 24. The process of Direxion's 3x ETFs? (01/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I have been keen on diversifying my portfolio for short-term trading. I saw this relative wsb post and did some research. It appears people do NOT tend to buy those specific ETFs. Now I understand how these are bad long term investments after reading this article from us-news. But I am thinking of a short-term investment at least day trade or few weeks to at most 2 years. Watched this segment on bloomberg on pros and cons of said ETFs. The representative also said that these ETFs are not good for long term investment. One of the ETFs, $GUSH which currently trades at ~$92 almost hit $100,000. It has low volume however has more than $750 million in assets. To anyone who has traded ETFs I wanted to ask: How long do you usually hold them Are there any decays applied to THESE ETFs. As some futures ETFs from proShare gets decayed. Does Robinhood and fidelity charge fee for trading ETFs such as $LBAD or $LABU Say if the ETF you hold goes to ~$100,000 per share, if you were to sell, who would possibly want to buy a share of ETF for $100,000? ETFs are great because it's a handful of stocks but most of my choices of ETFs are in the tech sector. I tried to find others but for some reason most are tech. I did find a few real estate ETFs but there is not much growth, lots of dividends but I want mostly growth with maybe 0-1% div. If I wanted dividends, I would pick a bank stock or oil. 32. Need advise on my tech heavy portfolio (09/09/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
My portfolio is quite tech heavy right now, stocks and ETF. I do like investing in tech but I want to diversify more. I have two tax-free accounts here in Canada, and I intend to keep most of these stocks and ETFs for a long period of time. Here's what I have right now: Tax-free savings account (holding 5+ years) 9% - AAPL 10% - ASTS 8% - CRSR 17% - MSFT 17% - QQQ 15% - SMH 24% - VGT Like I said, super tech heavy. I'm also aware of the big overlap. This is an account I'm willing to take more risks with. Looking to add some clean energy, cyber security and other "future tech" ETFs. Any recommendations? Tax-free retirement funds (holding 30+ years): 40% - SCHD 40% - VYM 20% - VOO This is very focused on dividends, since this account is tax-free for gains and dividends, and I'm not willing to take as much risk with this one. Any thoughts? Still very new to stocks and ETFs, looking for any type of feedback. Don't be shy, roast me! submitted by /u/ZavierKonz [link] [comments]

  38. Dividend Reinvestment Strategy Between Two ETFs (13/07/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I am new to investing, but I wanted to ask a few questions prior to using my savings to buy two ETFs. I have currently am using Schwab because my employer uses them for their retirement program. I would be buying these ETFs into an independent IRA account. I have been eying two ETFs. ETF A is a broad market ETF, while ETF B tracks the S&P 500. I wanted to diversify my initial portfolio by taking advantage of general market growth via ETF A and the rapid growth via ETF B. The expense ratios are relatively the same, but ETF A pays 1.39% and B pays 1.57%. So I was wondering if I should just have the dividends reinvest into the respective ETFs or should I use the dividend from one of them and invest in the other? submitted by /u/DifferentGandhi [link] [comments]

  43. Is it bad to sell a stock at the same price you bought it from? (09/09/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Please be easy on me, I am a very new investor so I am still trying to figure everything out. I bought Ethereum Classic at $51.93 for 9.446056 shares so in total a $490.50 on April 16th 2021. I then bought more Ethereum Classic at $51.98 for 0.173097 shares which in total was $9.00 on April 16, 2021. After seeing it rise and drop (which i understand is the whole point of the stock market) - I was just very nervous so I decided to sell all my shares of Ethereum Classic: (9.619153) for $505.36. This was all on the Robinhood app Was that a bad idea? It seems like I did not really lose any money but I am not entirely sure. So if I am correct, I put in $499.50 and made a profit of $5.86. Is this right? If someone could please explain if I am right or wrong I Would greatly appreciate it. submitted by /u/colorado288 [link] [comments]
