  6. Investing in TIPS (20/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
TIPS have historically been a terrible investment. Sure, they protect against inflation and are relatively stable, so they could potentially be part of a risk-averse portfolio, but they have always underperformed equities by a wide margin. Buy-and-hold with equities has always been a better strategy than buying TIPS. But with inflation related fears rising, I think that TIPS could be a much better investment in coming years despite the Fed trying to keep inflation artificially low. 22. Pro/Con of Roblox - expecting IPO in March. Last round valuation of over 29$ billion with a 7x growth in 2020 (14/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hi, new to the board but long time investor and formerly worked on Wall Street Reviewing the potential for the upcoming Roblox ipo. Here my thoughts on Pro/con on Roblox Pro: 1. Cool business model with an entire ecosystem that drives content creation through simplified game development allowing “citizen developers” to create content which Roblox gets 30% of any revenue. Ultra scalable content development model Fits into overall trend of video game nation which is clearly where the world in general is going Hasn’t even tapped the China/Asia market in any material way Cons: Not demonstrated to be able to keep kids outside the 4-10 age demographic. I have kids who played roblox and the games were really mini games. They then moved on to minecraft, fortnite, etc. While the cool part is the simple way to develop games, it also inherently limits the quality and depth of games vs true coding efforts and engines like Epic Unreal engine Valuation is sky high. 7x valuation from 4bn to 29bn in one year? And this is the private round so assume people want a public valuation of 40bn+??? Compared to existing firms like Rockstar (23bn) or Electronic Arts (42bn) that very rich. Net net: i like the overall name but as my personal investment approach is growth at a reasonable price, i will hold off but watch the name closely to see if post ipo there is a dip to a valuation i would find acceptable in the 20-30bn range Thoughts? What key elements of the story am i missing?? submitted by /u/Chthroop [link] [comments]

  29. Any nice long-term market tips or trends? (10/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
A friend of mine has just become a millionaire from the popular weed stock (TLRY et al) and I have missed the boat. I am always missing the boat. I don't think I've ever actually been on the boat. I am always standing, alone on the pier, holding bags that aren't even mine, waiting for the god damn boat. I had the chance to get in when the stocks were in the single digits and this is not the first time this has happened. So, my question is, on the nose and outrageously direct, does anyone have a nice long-term tips? Cheap stocks a bit off the radar? I know every Tom, Dick and Harry has their own opinions, so I guess I'm just generally asking for advice or discursive tips in markets or even specific stocks that some of you more savvy investors may know about. submitted by /u/bennyj22 [link] [comments]

So Market Cap for the NewCo is between 85-105B Discovery gets 29% of NewCo, so between 24-26B vs current $16-18B (depends on the series DISCA/DISCK/DISCB), a 50-60% upside.
