  10. $GE reverse stock split (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Can someone please explain to me why the news that GE will be doing a reverse 8 to 1 split would cause the huge drop we saw this week? I know the stigma around reverse splits because they are usually done when a ticker is going to be delisted but GE has had so much momentum lately and it seems like they are just trying to cut down the number of shares to compare to others in their market cap range. Also if anyone has something else they'd like to add about GE's outlook be my guest. My GE positions for full transparency, pretty bullish on this one. 12$ 3/19, 12.5$ 4/1, 13$ 4/1, 18$ 9/17 submitted by /u/DoobieSnacks47 [link] [comments]

  11. How will a reverse split affect options? (05/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Hi there, New to options trading and I was wondering how a reverse split would affect this? As an example, let's say I have options on a call with a strike price set to $10 and the stock is currently sitting at $5. For some reason the company decides to run a reverse split on their stock. If the reverse split happens so that the stock value is now at $10, how would this affect the option? Will the option always be corrected for this? Any help would be appreciated. Let me know whether this is making any sense or not. Like I said, I'm new to options trading so the "lingo" might be off. Thanks submitted by /u/alwaysreadytoblast [link] [comments]

  12. Cap gains loss disallowed after reverse split (10/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I think I understand this but just wanted to make sure. One of the stocks I own had a reverse split last month and my brokerage ended up liquidating a fraction of a share due to there not being enough to equal a whole share of the stock after the split. My cap gains loss was under a dollar. I then bought a few more shares of the stock after the reverse split completed. My brokerage is showing that previous loss is disallowed now. If I understand this right, since I bought more shares of the stock within 30 days, the previous loss is disallowed but carries over and is added in to my cost basis for the new shares. submitted by /u/Jakra64 [link] [comments]

  15. General Electric Shareholders (07/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
The 1 for 8 stock split is in the proxy statement I just received. From the link provided, you can download the proxy statement. The reverse stock split is discussed on pages 60-63. For the record, I am against the stock split. GE has 7.5 billion shares outstanding with 13.2 billion shares authorized. How did these numbers get so big? After the stock split they estimate there will be 1.1 billion shares outstanding and 1.65 billion shares authorized. So after the split, 2/3 of the stock will be outstanding and 1/3 float. Then there is the question of fractional shares. Right now GE is not planning on issuing fractional shares. So unless the number of shares you own is divisible by 8, you will receive cash in lieu of fractional shares.https://www.ge.com/investor-relations/proxy-statement submitted by /u/inkslingerben [link] [comments]

  22. GE proposing 1:8 reverse split. Is this cause for panic? (10/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
GE has been somewhat struggling in recent years, though recently reached a high of around $14 before a 7% drop following the announcement of the intention to reverse split. Is this a dangerous sign? Speculation says that their dividends are going to drop even further, but GE is witholding comment until a later time. submitted by /u/Mv71 [link] [comments]

  23. UVXY options reverse split question (08/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
A few months ago, I bought some UVXY put options at $3 strike. Also had some LEAPS calls at $25. Since it reverse split 10:1, the new price as related to options is confusing. UVXY1 option is now worth 10 shares of uvxy rather than 100. My broker used to display the current value with an adjusted strike price which made sense to me. Now it’s showing the original strikes. So, I have a long uvxy1 call at $25 and long put at $3. Before reverse splitting, the call was way OTM and the put nearly ITM. Now it seems reversed with underlying at $33. I used to think of it as multiplying the old strike by the reverse split multiple, so my call would now be strike $250 and put $30. Is that accurate? Are either of my UVXY1 options ITM now? If underlying dips to $28? Thank you for weighing in. submitted by /u/BlazingPalm [link] [comments]

  24. ETF will reverse split: Don’t know if to sell or not (11/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hi, JP Morgan has reverse split half of their foreign ETFs, so the price of my position has doubled but I also know that this is considered to be a bad situation for stocks. But is this bad for ETFs, or more specifically BBJP? Historically, the ETF has traded between 22 ~ 24, though its hit an ATH over the last month. 25. GE. All priced in? Buy before the split or wait? Doesn’t seem this news helps. (11/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
GE has run pretty far the last few months. Nice little pullback today but I fear the reverse split may hurt more than help. People love owning a $12 stock thinking 24 isn’t so far away. $100 stock and $200 seems like light years. submitted by /u/Sea-Net-811 [link] [comments]

  26. What’s your thoughts (29/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
TBLT is a business in the construction sector that IPO in 2018 at three dollars a share. Since then it slowly fell to $.12 accumulating debt and did a reverse split (1-10) The year following the reverse split they cleared up 90% of their debt in the middle 2 quarters while sealing deals with Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, and more. during Covid they missed their fourth-quarter EPS estimate and the stock went from $1.40 to $.65. They have one analysis rating of a strong by with a target price of two dollars. Their quarter one EPS estimate was beaten and puts them back on track to seemingly grow and possibly be profitable this year. Sabby has notoriously shorted this consistently filing ownership of millions of shares a number of times over the years. submitted by /u/Kindly-Ad-9639 [link] [comments]

  27. Shareholders Approve NVIDIA Stock Split (09/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Shareholders finally approve NVIDIA stock split. The stock split will be payable in the form of a stock dividend. Each shareholder of record as of June 21 will receive an additional three shares of stock for every share held. The shares will be distributed after the market close on July 19, and the newly split shares will begin trading when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20. Existing shareholders won't have to do anything to receive the additional shares, which will be deposited directly into their brokerage accounts once the stock split takes effect. It's important to note that investors shouldn't necessarily expect the new shares to appear in their account immediately after the market close on July 19. As internal processes differ from brokerage to brokerage, it may take as many as several days for the new shares to show up in investor accounts. Finally, investors should remember that a stock split does nothing to change the value of the underlying business, but merely divides it into a great number of ownership portions. As an example, NVIDIA shares have lately been trading for roughly $700. This means instead of having one share worth $700, shareholders would own four shares, each worth $175. submitted by /u/gorays21 [link] [comments]

  28. anyone has experience with stock split? (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I bought one contract of $EDU (a Chinese private education company) call yesterday, without knowing their stock would split. So stock split today, my one contract became 10. And the stock went up 6%, that's really sweet, doubled the value. My question is, do stocks usually go up for multiple days after split? I'm debating whether to take profit. Anyone who experienced the TESLA split, can you share some advice? appreciate it. submitted by /u/evil_666_live [link] [comments]

  35. Question regarding market mechanics during a stock split (19/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Let's say I have stock X. Let's also say that X is splitting 2:1. From what I've read, if I own X on say June 30, I'll get another X on say July 30. What happens if I decide I'm done with the stock and sell my current X on July 1? They'll still gift me the split X on July 15? That doesn't really make sense to me... Do I need to keep capital available for the split stock when it's available and sent to holders? Like, if I don't have capital to cover, do I receive-then-return the stock immediately? Does any of this change in regards to a written ITM call that executes after the above June 30 date but before the above July 30 date? submitted by /u/09SHO [link] [comments]

  41. Help Me Understand (25/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I invested in GLDFF (now CHAL) a while back because a guy in a comment section somewhere said to check them out lol (thank you, whoever you are). I checked my account today and it shows a gain of an unbelievable amount - I'm up like 2200%. At first I thought it was an error in the system or something. I guess the reverse split caused this? What is a reverse split? My primary question however is this - should I take my profits, or is this a squeezable situation? Or let it ride and see if the price rises more with time? Please excuse my ignorance and thank you in advance for your help! submitted by /u/Temporary-Session-76 [link] [comments]

Hi all! If a stock has a large number of outstanding failure to delivers that haven’t been resolved, and then the stock undergoes a stock split, would the number of outstanding shares that need to be delivered also be split? For example, company X has 200,000 shares marked as ‘Failed to Deliver’. The company then undergoes a 10:1 stock split. Will that mean that there are now 2,000,000 shares marked as “Failed to Deliver”? How would this affect the institutions who are failing to deliver these shares? Would it negatively affect the ability for whoever is in charge of locating these shares to actually discern which shares are counterfeit or missing, etc? submitted by /u/kn347 [link] [comments]
