https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/04/facebook-data-on-more-than-500-million-accounts-found-online.html The information appears to be several years old, but it is another example of the vast amount of information collected by Facebook and other social media sites, and the limits to how secure that information is. This is an old news, Facebook said "We found and fixed this issue in August 2019." Suddenly many people think fb stock price will go down on Monday due to this news. It won't affect facebook stock price because this is an old fixed issue. Now facebook stock is having momentum as the stock is trading near 52 week high. Economy is reopening and ads growth will comeback strong. There is no other way more effective of placing ads other than facebook. It is also the cheapest among faang. Investors should keep holding facebook stock and ride the momentum. submitted by /u/coolcomfort123 [link] [comments]

  4. Total return swaps (14/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
tl;dr: Please explain the effect of a loss in the underlying to a total return swap (e.g. the cashflows) I'm trying to understand total return swaps and I think I get the gist of it but I don't get what happens if the underlying (e.g. a Stock) returns a loss, because (and please correct me if I'm wrong) a swap is basically that parties 1 and 2 have an agrement where party 1 pays party 2 a fixed percentage rate of a base of X $ and party 2 pays party 1 the percentage return of an underlying (e.g. AAPL stock) of the same base X. if the underlying outperforms the fixed rate, party 1 makes money and if the underlying underperforms the fixed rate, party 2 makes money consider that rather than appreciating, the S&P 500 falls by 15%. The first party would receive 15% in addition to the LIBOR rate plus the fixed margin, and the payment netted to the first party would be $205,000, or [$1 million x (15% + 5.5%)]. this is what investopedia says happens if the underlying doesn't just underperform but realises losses. If I get this right in my example party 2 would get the fixed rate it would get anyways but also gets those 15% losses it had because it holds the underlying, therefore he doesn't have a loss. but then this seems to defeat the purpose of the total return swap to relieve party 1 of the risk of holding the underlying. submitted by /u/Duck313 [link] [comments]

  11. Facebook and Snapchat could be in trouble (Facebook Vs apple) (25/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So first of all before I get in to why Facebook is in trouble I just want to say iam a share holder of Facebook. So there is some reports that apple want to change iMessage and they are going to give it a fresh update. Apple wants iMessage to be more like a social media site and I think this could be a worrying situation for Facebook or it could flop for Apple. Here's the link for the rumours https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/22/apple-reportedly-expanding-imessage-to-compete-with-facebook.html Let's go to why I think this could be a success if apple plays their cards right. 1st reason is apple has good brand loyalty let's look at when they removed the headphone jack and brought airpods In. At first airpods got a lot of hate it didn't look like it was going to be a success but after time airpods itself can be a 100$ billion dollar company. Apples phone are a big success and there's no slowing down and finally iMessage it's self is a big success. Iam from the UK so iMessage isn't that big like it is in the USA WhatsApp is the bigger one and it's the same for the rest of the world but in the USA iMessage is big and that's also were Facebook makes most of their money. When apple release the new update I could see this being a success they could also steal users and screen time from Facebook and the other social media sites like Snapchat. I personally think Snapchat is in more trouble because most people use Snapchat to message only and if apple make iMessage look more attractive people could start leaving Snapchat. On the other hand this could flop. One reason why I think it could flop is because iMessage is a closed ecosystem and if they keep it closed people wouldn't leave WhatsApp or Snapchat because they still want to message their friends on android. On the other hand if apple decide to open iMessage people could sell their iPhones and buy androids. Another reason why this could potentially fail is because many companies have tried to compete with Facebook and they have all failed like Google for example they failed their attempt at a social media site. submitted by /u/royalshah10 [link] [comments]

  21. Facebook Bearish DD (01/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Facebook short play. (Put options) It’s safe to say a large percentage of the revenue Facebook makes is from iPhone users… because iPhones are the most popular cellphones in North America. (N/A highest consumer market) IOS 14 update asks users if they want to allow apps to track their data. Most people will click ask app not to track, and you’ll notice in the days to come that most of your adds are less and less targeted. (Facebook did a study that shows 2% of users allow the app to track data, that’s 98% loss of continuous data collection, see link at bottom of page) I think in Q2 when Google and/or Snapchat report earnings beating analyst expectations, people will price in Facebook doing so as well as they always follow trend. When FB reports Q2 earnings, it will show up on the month of June. This will create lots of bearish sentiment against Facebook, additionally with inflation being in that talks this summer, the tech industry can see a hit. Facebook should still be able to generate revenue from targeted ads, as they have data stored already. Although, as new trends and products enter the market, Facebook will lose its advantage as it’s stored data will be out of date. To add more… Facebook has been trying to attack apple using every angle they can think of, even saying the new IOS update will “hurt” small businesses… that to me, shows me how desperate Mark Zuk is and how much this update will hurt Facebook. https://www.imore.com/facebook-pays-study-says-apples-ios-14-privacy-changes-are-bad submitted by /u/PennyStockWorth [link] [comments]

  25. Dish Stock (Dish Wireless/Dish Network) (09/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
These asshats at JP Morgan are dead wrong about this stock. I oversee the project build on these sites and I’m telling you they are totally up to speed ...they haven’t missed their mark, they are fourth largest carrier now and there will be no other carrier after Dish. Once their sites are up and running, they may even take over the third or second spot. Dish is taking the leased areas on redundant sites under T-Mobile, which will either be a Clearwire or Sprint site. Keep in mind that T-Mobile now owns Sprint and Clearwire and the agreement with the FCC was that if Sprint and T-Mobile merged, they had to offer up their redundant sites to Dish Network. T-Mobile will be decommissioning on buildings and towers and Dish will go in place of these sites that are being decommissioned. These jokers at JP Morgan have no idea what they’re talking about. Stick to banking JP Morgan Chase and stay out of telecom. submitted by /u/mesonormy [link] [comments]

  28. What's the sentiment on Facebook ($FB) (08/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I'm curious to see what's the overal sentiment on Facebook as a stock among younger investors here on reddit. Personally I despise Facebook and everything they stand for/do. I would never put my money in it eventhough the company will most likely remain to see significant growth for the foreseeable future. Plenty of big tech companies have questionable ethics to put it lightly but for most of them I can see their value to the world and society. Facebook however adds nothing, everything it touches seems to turn to shit. Are you invested? Do you care about the practices of the company or do prioritize growth? I'm trying to form an idea of how this stock will perform over the next 20 years when the old garde of investors starts to disappear and be replaced by the new. submitted by /u/mmarlaire1997 [link] [comments]
