  1. Volkswagen is totally killing it right now! (15/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Volkswagen is selling electric cars like off the assembly line right now! In April alone, they sold 18,853 pure electric cars in Europe (ex UK) (Tesla: 861; but the first month of the quarter is always bad for Tesla in Europe) and thus reached a market share of 34.6%! In the whole first quarter of this year, they sold 32,363 pure electric cars in the same market (Tesla: 18,788), giving them a 23% market share. VW ID.4 sales have started, Skoda Enyaqs as well, and Audi Etron Q4 is still to come to customers in June. All three cars are based on the MEB platforms and are direct competitors to Tesla's Model Y, which will be delayed by at least half a year in Europe. Volkswagen is growing at breakneck speed. If they can maintain this pace, they would sell almost 60k EVs per quarter in Europe alone. Volkswagen estimates to sell 500k hybrids and 500k pure electric cars in 2021. Volkswagen currently has a P/E ratio of 9.5, it is insanely cheap! Note: I recently bought shares of Volkswagen. https://eu-evs.com/bestSellers/ALL_MONTHLY/Brands/Quarter/2021/1 submitted by /u/GordonGekkoVienna [link] [comments]

  2. VW: By far the safest EV play? (18/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Volkswagen has had a strong run in recent weeks (also due to greater interest from American investors). The company recently presented its plans for the future in electromobility at Powerday. Volkswagen plans to produce and sell a total of 1 million electric cars (including hybrids) in 2021. About half of these will be purely electric. Due to the high number of existing production facilities (VW produces about 10 million vehicles per year), VW's EV division has been growing about twice as fast as Tesla since last year. Volkswagen has several factories in China and the USA where production is currently being switched to mass-produced EV models. The following EVs will be sold by Volkswagen in 2021: Volkswagen: ID.3, ID4, ID.5, ID.6 Audi: Etron, Etron Q4, Etron GT Porsche: Taycan, Taycan 2WD, Taycan cross tourismo Skoda: Enyak Seat: Cupra El Born The VW Group also sells several hybrid models. With a current P/E ratio of 13.6 the share is very favourably valued, the dividend yield is 2.11%. Volkswagen is definitely the best EV bet currently available. With its brands, the group has a comprehensive range for all groups of buyers, with a focus on mid-range vehicles. The software initiative is so extensive that VW's finished software division will be the second largest software company in Europe. submitted by /u/GordonGekkoVienna [link] [comments]

  3. CNN Business: Investors love electric cars. They're starting to like Volkswagen, too (22/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
CNN Business: Investors love electric cars. They're starting to like Volkswagen, too Excerpt: Volkswagen (VLKAF) went even further on Tuesday, saying it would sell more than 2 million electric vehicles by 2025, hire 6,500 coding experts over the next five years, launch its own operating system and become Europe's second biggest software company behind SAP (SAP). It was quite the flurry of announcements, and it resonated with investors: Volkswagen's main shares in Frankfurt increased by nearly 20% last week, bringing its 2021 gains to 45%. Meanwhile its less-liquid ordinary shares are up 65%, even with a sharp decline on Friday. Also: But Volkswagen is now becoming more like Tesla in the ways that investors care about most. Tesla could be matched sale-for-sale by Volkswagen as early as 2022, according to analysts at UBS, who predict the owner of Audi and Porsche will go on to sell 300,000 more electric vehicles than Tesla in 2025. Continued: Diess is even behaving a bit more like Musk. The German CEO has joined Twitter, and his presentations to investors and the media are starting to have a very "tech startup" feel to them, with slickly designed decks. And: "We have more confidence than ever that Volkswagen will deliver the unique combination of volume growth, making them the world's largest [electric] carmaker, together with Tesla, as soon as next year," UBS analyst Patrick Hummel said recently, "while their margins will be stable or even grow from here. That is something that is totally unappreciated." submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  4. Financial Times: Volkswagen's electric vehicles not affected by semiconductor shortage (VOW, VWAGY) (01/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
VW's electric cars spared in chip crisis Excerpt: The rollout of Volkswagen’s flagship electric cars has been unaffected by the semiconductor shortages roiling the industry, easing investor concerns that bottlenecks would leave the company unable to meet strict EU emissions targets. Also: But the brand’s chief executive, Ralf Brandstätter, told the Financial Times the chips crisis had so far only hit combustion engine models such as the Passat. “At the moment it is not influencing our [CO2] target,” he said, referring to the annual EU standards with which VW must comply or face heavy fines. However, he added that the company’s entire chip supply chain remained volatile. And: The wider Volkswagen group, which includes Audi, Porsche and Seat, is heavily reliant on the success of VW’s new ID.3 and ID.4 electric vehicles to counterbalance combustion-engine sales in Europe. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  5. Tesla competitors, including the Next Tesla, aired electric vehicle ads during SNL episode hosted by Elon Musk (11/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
USA Today article: Tesla competitors air electric vehicle ads during Elon Musk 'Saturday Night Live' Excerpt: Live from New York, it's Tesla's competitors trying to steal the show from Elon Musk. Four automakers aired electric vehicle commercials during the "Saturday Night Live" episode hosted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Lucid Motors, Ford, Volkswagen and Volvo showcased electric vehicles in advertisements in a bid to grab a portion of the spotlight on a night featuring the billionaire widely credited with leading an EV revolution. And: Ford showed the Mustang Mach-E, an electric crossover version of its famed pony car. Volkswagen showed off the VW ID.4, its first electric SUV. And Volvo showed off the XC-90 plug-in hybrid SUV. Lucid Motors: "The future it's impossible to see and when it's finally here, it might not be what you'd expect it might just be better." Ford Motors is the pretender of the bunch, being so behind in the race to be the next Tesla (but still good enough to be a prospective takeover target for the Next Tesla). Volvo: Why did they have to promote a hybrid and spoil the battery electric vehicle party? Volvo is more likely to be the dark horse for becoming the Tesla of commercial EVs, not the next Tesla when it comes to consumer EVs. Last, but not least, the Next Tesla, Volkswagen, Das Auto, put its stamp on the SNL opportunity by promoting not one, but two brands: https://www.carscoops.com/2021/05/audi-ford-vw-and-lucid-ran-ev-commercials-during-elon-musks-snl-appearance/ During the first 30 minutes of the show, commercials were aired for the Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, VW ID.4, and Lucid Air. Volvo also made use of all the interest in SNL by airing a commercial for the XC90 hybrid. "Before it can change the world, it has to change yours," goes the ad for the VW ID.4. It's ironic, because this is exactly what happened to Volkswagen itself. Before emerging as the Next Tesla, it had to be "born" from Dieselgate. Disclosure: Long VWAGY and POAHY. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  7. Tesla is being overrun by VW in Europe - will Tesla soon be a non-player in Europe? (07/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Small update on the European electric car market. I already wrote a few weeks ago about the emerging dominance of Volkswagen and would now like to update the figures from then: VW (VW, Porsche, Audi, Skoda, Seat) sold 34,205 pure electric cars in Europe in Q1 2021 (market share: 24.3%). In the first two months of Q2 (April and May), there were 39,741 pure EVs sold by VW (market share: 33.3%). Tesla sold 18,788 cars in Q1 and is now at 7532 cars in Q2. However, it should be noted that Tesla sells a large number of cars at the end of the quarter, for logistical reasons. Volkswagen is growing rapidly, they have already sold significantly more pure electric cars in the first two months of the current quarter than in the entire first quarter. https://eu-evs.com/bestSellers/ALL_MONTHLY/Groups/Quarter/2021/2 submitted by /u/GordonGekkoVienna [link] [comments]

  8. Handelsblatt: VW will switch to mass-producing electric vehicles with bidirectional charging next year (VOW, VWAGY) (07/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
VW will switch to mass-producing electric vehicles with bidirectional charging next year Background excerpt on V2G: The technology is often referred to as “vehicle-to-grid.” An electric vehicle with bidirectional charging capacity can send power pack into the grid, or a home, or even another electric vehicle. Competition: The Nissan Leaf is the most popular EV with the capacity, but that’s about it. However, there are many new EVs coming with the capacity. The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with the technology, and Tesla has commented that all future vehicles will be equipped with bidirectional charging capacity. Translation of Handelsblatt excerpt: “The test vehicles are running, we are in the last pulls with the preparations,” confirms VW Development Board Member Thomas Ulbrich in an interview with the Handelsblatt. From 2022 onwards, every electric car from the Volkswagen Group that is developed on the basis of the MEB (“modular electrification kit”) electrical platform can not only charge the electricity but also return it to the grid. In addition to VW, the MEB is also used by the sister brands Audi , Skoda and Seat-Cupra. Commentary elsewhere: https://thedriven.io/2021/04/07/volkswagen-wants-to-stabilise-grid-by-adding-v2g-in-all-its-electric-cars/ Carmakers that dive into the business of smoothing the grid would benefit more than financially, also. By saving unused renewable energy for future use to feed into the power grid, the vehicle industry would also acquire knowledge of how much storage capacity would actually be available at certain times. For the Volkswagen group, it will also set it apart from Tesla, which is more focused on having its cars on the road in service as autonomous taxis. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  12. TSLA vs Volkswagen (30/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
A lot of shit is happening around us these days. Stocks are in the bloody stage these days. but some companies are trying to move up nonetheless. looking at the TSLA stock performance during the last 3 months I feel like people are disappointed in TSLA. Im kinda disappointed at least, TSLA was strong during the tough times but not anymore. Elon is making random decisions that I am not sure how will ends up. I feel like his focus is shifting. WVAGY is taking off, Im not sure if it is a good replacement for TSLA or not. But it feels like it is serious . Im looking long terms like 1-2 years investment. Is this german company going to take over the TSLA? I know some people say TSLA vs Volkswagen is like Apple vs Samsung. well, samsung isn't that bad overall IMO... some brokers have not added Volkswagen to their stocks yet (e.g. I cannot trade in on webull, but I can on Robinhood). But I think Volkswagen is just starting, it can have a good ride up plus cars is what they do. Im open to hear people opinions ... What Happened: The SUV, available in five models, ranges in price between RMB 199,000 ($30,720) to RMB 279,900 ($43,000) after subsidies and has a range of between 400 KM (248 Miles) to 550 KM (342 Miles), CnEVPost reported. 14. Bloomberg Article on Volkswagen: Implications for Reverse Merger Startups (22/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I already my DD on proper valuation for the Next Tesla, Volkswagen, Das Auto. However, this Bloomberg article caught my attention, because it also implies that Volkswagen has answers in the works for certain reverse merger startups in the EV space: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-15/vw-plans-europe-s-biggest-battery-push-in-electric-offensive Fast-charging in Europe will grow five-fold to 18,000 stations, helped by cooperations with BP Plc in the U.K., Iberdrola SA in Spain and Enel SpA in Italy. In North America, VW is adding 3,500 stations this year and 17,000 points in China by 2025. Volkswagen is not taking the likes of EVGo lightly. VW will offer bidirectional charging from 2022, a move that would change the way power grids operate by allowing car batteries to store excess energy and feed it back to the network in times of peak demand. Volkswagen is not taking the likes of Nuvve Corporation or Proterra lightly. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  15. Reuters on electric vehicle maker Volkswagen: VW throws down the emissions gauntlet (VOW, VWAGY) (06/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
How low can you go? Volkswagen throws down the emissions gauntlet Excerpt: Three sources told Reuters that Volkswagen, which owns car brands including Porsche, Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda, is quietly letting policymakers in Brussels know that it would support more ambitious cuts in emissions than other car manufacturers. Further: Volkswagen has set itself a 2025 deadline for overtaking U.S. pioneer Tesla (TSLA.O) and becoming the world's biggest seller of electric vehicles (EVs), a plan that includes building six battery factories in Europe alone by 2030. Details: Tensions over emissions cuts came to a head at a board meeting of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) in March, two people familiar with the matter said. Several chief executives said they were concerned about the prospect of tougher EU standards, as they could blow a hole in profits from fossil-fuel engines that could not yet be plugged by electric vehicles, the two people said. But Diess took a more upbeat view, saying his company's EVs would achieve cost parity by the mid-2020s, a comment that raised eyebrows among fellow CEOs at the meeting including Renault's Luca de Meo, one of the people said. Also: At the moment, the European industry must deliver fleet-wide cuts in emissions of 37.5% by 2030 for new passenger cars from 2021 limits - equivalent to a reduction from 95 grams of CO2 per km this year to 59 g/km at the end of the decade. One person familiar with the matter said the industry was now bracing for this target reduction to rise to at least 50% when the European Commission unveils its plans. And: Selling mass-market EVs is also vital to earn valuable carbon credits that carmakers can sell to rivals struggling to meet EU emissions targets. EV champions can even make a business selling credits to heavy emitters. Tesla, for example, sold Italy's FCA European and U.S. CO2 credits worth 2 billion euros from 2019 to 2021, and green credit sales helped boost its first-quarter revenue. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]

  16. Volkswagen? Tesla hasn't got anything to fear... (16/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Here at u/Whystockclub, we are big fans of TESLA, no secret. We believe it's going to be THE dominating EV company in the 10 years. However, Volkswagen stock just jumped 20% pushing the German DAX to its all-time high. It's on the back a significant strategic announcement to focus on EV. Do we TESLA fans need to be concerned? Let's have a look: Volkswagen: Volkswagen made it clear that they want to be THE Leader in the EV market; not just 2nd to Tesla On the most recent shareholder meeting, VW double down on all-electric personal transportation future The company announced plans to build six gigafactories by 2030 Volkswagen’s battery plants should have the capacity to manufacture 240-gigawatt hours of batteries each year. With that capacity, it can power 4-5m EV's annually It has also a solid stake in QuantumScape; Quantum is pioneering solid-state, lithium anode batteries that promise lower costs, better safety, longer ranges, and faster charge times than today’s lithium-ion EV battery technology In 2020, Volkswagen sold about 230,000 all-electric vehicles Tesla sold about 500000 in 2020 Volkswagen’s goal is to sell 1 million electrified vehicles this year Volkswagen also believes it will drive down the cost of batteries by about 50% between now and 2030 ALL sounds well but this is what we think: The VW moves confirms that EVs are set to become the standard Also, the penetration of existing car makers into EV is going to come quicker than many Investors may have thought. But overall, Tesla is still best positioned to be the leader in the 5 trillion market in a future potential 5 trillion market. What do you think? To “preserve elements of Volkswagen’s heritage,” the release said the company planned to retain the dark blue color of the VW logo for gas-powered vehicles and use light blue to differentiate “the new, EV-centric branding.” The release said Voltswagen of America would remain an operating unit of Volkswagen Group of America and a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, with headquarters in Herndon, Virginia. I can't believe how soft this sub is becoming. Honestly, the market goes down 0.001 percent and the subs flooded with reassuring posts to stop some guy who's lost 10 cent from selling at a loss. It's embarrassing. We are supposed to be a sub that talks about stocks. Why can't we just sticky a post that states that stocks go down as well as up and that a red day doesn't mean anything and be done with it? Half the subs in this post aren't even about a stock anymore. Between that and the constant pump and dumps from WSBs we aren't a fraction of the sub we was before covid. Anyone else feel this way? Or do you enjoy the daily reassurance posts for when a stock you own goes down one percent after going up 200 percent this year? Worst part is that the posts reassuring people are always based of nothing from bag holders from pump and dump posts. BB is up an obscene amount. No it's not going back up to 25 dollars anytime soon. Pump and dumps have left us with tons of bag holders and now they all constantly make posts to help themselves and others hold the bags based on zero evidence. Can't wait for all the triggered BB holders but it's just an example of a Wsb pump and dumped that's screwed half the sub over that now gets a daily cry post submitted by /u/markhalliday8 [link] [comments]

Pump-and-dumps are ilegal. If it's done without identifiable promoters, however, it leads to no prosecutions, because noone but everybody did it. Ilegal, yes; pointless to convict, also. With that out of the way, what's the future for millions of retail traders driving stocks up in tandem? Let's say the DD for a particular meme stock is solid. Shares at $10, company value justifying $15. Value investment, right? Well once it becomes meme it may shoot to $20, $30, or more. The retail traders community isn't anywhere organized to handle this. Driving the price up is easy. Knowing when to dump seems like a mystery, because "diamond hands" are suddenly a thing. So you get your friendly hedge fund shorting it above $20, to collect the prize when the savvy retailers and institutional holders sell near peak, and it all comes crashing down. And the large majority of retail investors are left holding the bag. I do realize it's illegal to organize such movements, but damn. If you're a small speculator looking for a quick buck, please know when to dump. Do not be too greedy. Always remember that in the big scheme of Wall Street, you'll never be the one raking in the top profits. Know the charts and use them. Disclaimer: I guess this kinda qualifies as financial advice. I don't care, fuck it. Just don't lose your car. submitted by /u/Mamasini [link] [comments]

  39. Bloomberg: Volkswagen as the Next Tesla is firing up stock investors (26/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
(Re. VOW and VWAGY) Bloomberg: Volkswagen as the next Tesla is firing up stock investors Excerpt: The stock started taking off last week as investors bought into the Germany company’s plan to supplant Tesla Inc. as the global leader in electric cars. Chief Executive Officer Herbert Diess made a series of announcements on his strategy to beat his California-based rival, emulating his counterpart at Tesla, Elon Musk. In return, VW common shares picked up a bit of Tesla’s cult status, soaring 60 per cent so far this month. Also: Sell-side analysts tracked by Bloomberg factored the new prospects for the company’s EV plans into their models, leading to the average price target rising alongside shares. Yet for the moment only about 7.7 per cent upside is left in the preferred stock if the 12-month average target is any guide. Hence, no surprise that the number of analysts rating the stock a buy is right where it was when the rally began. And: VW is a giant compared to Tesla when it comes to sales volume. The German carmaker sold more than 9 million cars last year versus just half a million for Tesla. And while VW is still trailing Tesla in terms of EV sales, the gap is closing fast with Volkswagen accelerating its growth from the low base. Yet Tesla’s market value is almost four times greater than Volkswagen’s after a stunning 743 per cent share price rally last year. submitted by /u/Torlek1 [link] [comments]
