I have $800 that I can afford to play around with. What should I put it in?

Reddit Stocks

15/09/2021 - 03:17

This is by no means a lot of money compared to a lot of fuck-off money that people have but I am young and I have saved up enough and am in a good financial position to where I have some money that I can put into the stock market. What should I put it into? submitted by /u/BlackExcellence19 [link] [comments]

  3. Options volume (26/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I haven't bought many options before. Been trading stocks mostly. I've considered options before, but for most things I've traded up to this point, it made more sense to just buy the stock. I recently bought about as many options as I can afford to cover (so not that many), in case I want to exercise them. I didn't realize they keep track of the price while you hold them, and you can buy and sell them without ever covering the shares. So theoretically, I could have bought about 100 times more options. Since the ones I bought expire in 6 months, the price is super volatile. So it seems like buying closer to what I can afford to buy is a bad idea. Thoughts on this? Do you keep options volume to close or maybe up to 2-3 times what you can afford to cover? submitted by /u/ss1728 [link] [comments]

  6. AAL put options (22/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
AAL - my favorite short play I already posted about AAL previously, but recently a new catalyst came into play. AAL is canceling hundreds of flights… due to “staff shortage”. Total bullshit. Their staff hasn’t changed since the flights have been booked, and as if their planes are in need of that much maintenance. The real reason is obvious. Those flights were booked when travel was very cheap and fuel was around $35/barrel. Now fuel has doubled and the price those tickets were sold are too big of a loss. So the company will now try to give people “travel” credit so they can rebook flights that would cost much more money. Unfortunately for AAL, their competitors are not playing as dirty. Their competitors can also afford to burn more cash. The coming quarters are going to be very bloody for AAL. To give you perspective, 2020 Q4, aircraft fuel expenses were $700 million from the $6.5 billion expenses. That’s 11% of the total expenses. The average fuel price was $40/barrel. In 2021 Q1, fuel was $1.034 billion, from a total expense of $5.323 billion. That’s 19% of the expenses, fuel was average of $57/barrel that quarter. Q2 2021, fuel will have an average of $68/barrel. This will likely be 25-30% of the expenses. Unfortunately fuel will remain high, inflation and manipulation. With other airlines like southwest, spirit, delta, etc… having better financials. They will maintain the cheap prices and fight through the mud. Although, AAL has so much debt and liabilities, they can’t afford this. They’ll need to downsize, or dilute more shares, etc… they’re in deep trouble! 7. Hello, I need to find a new broker. (23/07/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
So I've been trading for about 6 months now and I'm not happy with my broker anymore. I've been using IG Broker. I trade forex and commodities, but I want to move onto shares, but I can't afford to pay their fees on any shares. The fee for European shares is 10€ and for the USA shares is ~12€. There are also overnight fees on everything. These fees may not seem much but I'm only 16 and I'm not employed so I have some money saved that I want to invest but I just can't afford the fees. If you guys have any brokers that are EU based with 0 commissions fees let me know. Thanks! submitted by /u/Mavarx [link] [comments]

  10. Watchlist For 7/29/2021 -- Buy Into Momentum Or Wait For Value (29/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
$ACCO - Well it already popped so.... it is right back under the resistance trendline, hopefully it comes down and we can either short it or continue to play the wedge breakout. $CYTH - Great value with massive volatility that I like here. We usually take 3 - 4 days to reverse so we have no reason to rush, but this is a good place to be for a value play. $FOSL - We need a small pullback to $11.60 or so first, let it come to us for the support play. We are hoping we can play for a big breakout play. $HEAR - Again if we break this resistance trend we should have an awesome hold. If it dips we look to buy into value, we have both in this play which I love to see. $SKT - Amazing consolidation into earnings, love it here. We get a higher high and we are going to take off and hopefully break this resistance trend. $TROW - God like uptrend, gorgeous setup. If we show lifer the trend is going to be perfect here. Lower volume but a beautiful channel up setup. $TSLA - I don't like large caps - but this is a great triangle play. Low risk, massive reward, love it, submitted by /u/No_Seesaw1134 [link] [comments]

  11. My Watchlist For 5/19/2021 (19/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
$ACHC - We need a small pullback to make this play more valuable, but once it hits there it will be amazing. We have some clear value, we just have to wait for it to come to us. $CB - We are right in the money. We might see one or two more percent, dip - but for a rising play - we are right where we want it. $CTVA - Once again we are maybe 1% too high (you see where my head is it) - once we dip a bit more this bad boy will be ready to roll. $MIDD - We are hoping this is an over reaction and we can take advantage of it. We are hoping this is a support we can play off of. $OZON - Great support play right here. We need some life, but if this breaks we look for $46 to go off of next. $ROST - We maybe 1% away again but if we live here I love the deal still. Beautiful wedge up, really good looking here. $SWM - We have a great trend up but we have a support lower to play off of too. This is convergence in action, gorgeous. $WY - We are right where we want to be. We see green go long, we see red wait some %, then go long. This is a winner gearing up. submitted by /u/No_Seesaw1134 [link] [comments]

  12. Inflation and stock prices (long term) (08/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Today I was thinking, and I wanted some opinions on my thought. Inflation is bad for the market, yes. At the same time, though, doesn’t inflation naturally inflate stock prices? I imagine in 1920 a stock trading at $3,000 (Amazon) would be way too expensive for the average person to buy. These days, most people can afford a share of Amazon. I know there are a lot of factors at play here, just trying to put it in Layman’s terms. So my question is, with the power of $1 constantly decreasing, doesn’t that mean share prices would naturally increase over time? submitted by /u/DrewD_1847 [link] [comments]

  15. LUCID Motors' future mired in uncertainty (07/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Lucid Motors is just a mirage. In 3-4 years all the EV automakers will use solid-state batteries and Lucid's main advantage will simply vanish. Volvo, Daimler, and other luxury car makers are launching EVs, better looking and with competitive tech. The difference is that they put more emphasis on comfort, rather than on the 0-60 acceleration. Where are you going to use it? Will you stick it to the guy in the car next to you at the traffic lights? If so, maybe you shouldn't drive at all. Feel the need for adrenaline? Go to an amusement park, don't put other traffic participants in danger. Your car has 1000 hp and not 400 hp? Cool. My point is that many specs that Rawlinson boasts with are impressive from an engineering perspective, but nothing more. Having production facilities already in place, other car manufacturers with already established brands can afford to undercut Lucid by a significant margin. And if they can afford to undercut they can afford to overspend on R&D and hire superstar researchers. In the end, if the cars don't differ by much on what really matters to you, will you really pay double? If yes, have fun during hail storms and all the other little accidents that happen every day. That being said, I'm still willing to see Lucid succeed somehow, because if they do, that means they have found something underexplored, and it will force other competitors to improve and move further the innovation frontier. If Tesla didn't succeed, we would be far behind in green technology adoption today. submitted by /u/orso-nero [link] [comments]

  23. How much rent can I afford? (01/05/2021 - The Motley Fool UK)
How much rent you can afford depends on a lot of factors. These can include what you earn, your lifestyle and other expenses you have. For some people, paying a little more rent is worth it if they can walk to work or reach their favourite park within minutes. According to NimbleFins, the average household in the UK pays £868 a month to rent a property. But just how affordable is this average amount? [top_pitch] What percentage of your salary should go to rent? The generally accepted rule is that you should spend no more than 30% of your salary on rent. And according to the ONS Family Spending report, Brits spend just about that, with most spending around 30-35% of their salary. How much rent people can afford has changed over the years. In fact, the average figure has been increasing steadily over the past decade. Twenty years ago, the average UK resident spent about 28% of their salary on rent. Though places like London have always had higher percentages, at around 40% or more. How do you calculate whether you can afford rent? To see how much rent you can afford, you first need to add up all of your existing expenses. Estimating the cost of your bills and daily expenses will give you an idea of what’s left for rent. This includes service charges, council tax and utilities. You can ask the landlord of the property you’re considering to estimate how much these things might cost. Or you can set aside a certain amount for the first few months until you get a bill.  If you’re still unsure about how much rent you can afford, then try using a rent affordability calculator. This allows you to enter your gross annual income to see how much rent you can afford. Or you can enter the rental price of a place you’re considering. In this case, the calculator will estimate how much your gross total income should be to afford that place. [middle_pitch] What other rent-related points should I consider?  One of the requirements of renting a house is paying a deposit. A deposit could be equal to one or two months’ rent, so when trying to figure how much rent you can afford, keep this extra money you need to come up with in mind. Another thing you should keep in mind is that landlords might ask for proof of your income to check that you can afford the rent they are charging. For example, you might feel you can afford a place that swallows up to 50% of your salary, but that doesn’t mean the landlord will think it’s a good risk to rent it to you. Landlords can ask to see your payslips, a letter from your employer, your bank statements or your most recent tax return to confirm that you are earning enough. To improve your chances of getting the place you want, try to stay as close as possible to the 30% figure mentioned above.  “This Stock Could Be Like Buying Amazon in 1997” I’m sure you’ll agree that’s quite the statement from Motley Fool Co-Founder Tom Gardner. $AXU - Great horizontal play that is right in value still. I am pretty sure they have earnings coming soon so wait on that, but a great area of value for sure. $CVNA - Great support, great trendline as well. The issue is it hit the 200EMA and died, so wait for a better value / for it to break above both EMA lines and you'll be golden. $ITRI - Earnings murder, and now we has some possible life but be careful. trying to retake the 200EMa as well and that is a good sign of life, and all indicators are lower than sea level. $MRSN - Great strong support here and low risk play as well. Indicators low and plenty of room to run up here, good horizontal play. $MTCH - Right above trendline and horizontal support so I want a better price or EMA cross. 35. I think this is a catalyst for $RBLX (30/08/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
KSI made a sponsored video playing the game. Most of his audience are above 10 so they think the game is weird and childish. But the video is significant because of 2 reasons . (1) roblox is marketing the game where it actually matters(people that don't play it) . (2) There is a decent chance they will sponsor PewDiePie to play it next. He's insanely influential and has made games popular in the past (Minecraft, flappy bird). The more that roblox cynics are exposed to the game, the likely they'd play it. I believe there's a real chance that roblox will turn into the once weird thing that has ironically become popular (just like crocs). submitted by /u/SpiteUnusual [link] [comments]

But this is a low risk play here. $FLXN - what a sexual set up. Low risk, high reward, price targets are sky high -- I mean.... lord I like it a lot. $LAMR - Up trend is obvious and a great bounce off of the 50EMA here. May be burnt out, if it dips down to like $83 I won't be too upset. $LSI - Amazing up trend and support area. Love it, live it, watch it. This can be a great set up. $NKE - Possible STRONG support is near $130, but this is a still a safe bet given the up trend. It did have earnings so let's see where it heads - do not get hasty. $NLS - Up trend is nice here, support is nice, I really love this play long term. This bad boy may make some massive moves. $PGEN - I think it can be lower, possible under $7.90 if it dips farther. I like this play long term as well. $PLNT - Up trend is suuuuuper obvious. Support is obvious, this is a REALLY easy play to read and watch. $SKLZ - Horizontal triangle is forming, great long term play, strong support.
