  9. Apple Suppliers That Could Benefit New iPhone Models (10/08/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
W?ith Apple‘s iPhone typical fall launch is fast approaching, details about the device’s new capabilities have started to leak out. As consumers and gadget fans pore over the tidbits for taste of what Apple’s (ticker: AAPL) latest pocket computetr will have in store, chip investors too are scrutinizing the trickle of information. In a Tuesday report, Bloomberg News said the new Apple phones will feature new video and camera features, a faster Apple-designed chip to power the gadget, and new screen technology. Apple will keep the same iPhone dimensions and designs as last year’s models, the report said. Based on the scarce available details, the exact makeup of the guts of the next line of iPhones is highly speculative at this point. But, investors know a few things already based on past designs and the bare-bones description. One of the biggest changes in recent memory was the iPhone’s adoption of 5G technology, requiring a batch of new chips to support the fast uplink speed. For many phones, including Apple’s, that tended to mean much more silicon overall, which was good news for the chip makers that supply Apple with parts. For the 5G modems themselves, the iPhone 12 contained chips made by Qualcomm (QCOM), which suggests it too will likely supply the iPhone’s 5G wireless chip—at least for now. Apple has reportedly launched its own effort to design wireless radios, so that may change in the future. The chip giant has made other chips for the iPhones such as power modules. Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) and Qorvo (QRVO) make radio-related iPhone components, too, and have both been historic suppliers. Broadcom (AVGO) also has made wireless chips and other iPhone components. Barclays chip analyst Blayne Curtis has staked Qorvo has his favorite of the batch of Apple suppliers he watches. For the new camera, it’s possible Texas Instruments (TXN) could play a role, as it has supplied the power-management chip for previous iterations of the iPhone camera. Its chips that help with battery-charging have also been spotted in past phones. Memory-wise, according to an iFixit teardown, the last iPhone used random access memory made by Micron Technology (MU). Micron has said the 5G upgrade cycle has benefited it because new generation phones typically carry more RAM than their 4G counterparts. The iPhone 12’s flash storage was produced by closely held Kioxia Holdings, a Japanese memory maker that has been considering an initial public offering in recent months. We know Apple is designing the chips that power its phones, and has for several generations, effectively cutting out Qualcomm from the processor part of iPhone revenue. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), has made the chip in the past, and it is all but certain to be making the latest iPhone processors. Source: Barron's Some of the semi stocks mentioned in this article are still worth to buy. qcom, tsm, mu, skws and qrvo are all trading between 20 to 30 pe. The revenue growth for these stocks are still attractive. With apple releasing the new iphones at September, these stocks will definitely benefit from the ongoing 5G trend. submitted by /u/coolcomfort123 [link] [comments]

  16. Apple iPhone Will Feature 'Unibody' Design In 2022, 'Periscope Lens' In 2023: Analyst $AAPL (09/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Shivdeep Dhaliwal , Benzinga Staff Writer Apple Inc’s AAPL 3.53% smartphones are set to get camera upgrades in 2022 and 2023 that will make them more robust and increase their shooting capability, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, AppleInsider reported Tuesday. What Happened: The iPhone will come with a “unibody” design in 2022 which will integrate the voice coil motor of its camera and the lens array, according to Kuo. This move could free up internal space in the device and increase the robustness of the smartphone made by the Tim Cook-led company, according to AppleInsider. Apple plans to add a telephoto camera on its high-end iPhones from a 6P lens array to a 7P stack in 2022 as well. The Cupertino, California-based tech giant is reportedly planning to move all its rear-facing iPhone lenses to the 7P stack in the coming years. The analyst said that, in 2023, Apple will introduce a telephoto lens design to the iPhone. This type of design helps to extend the focal length of a compact lens array, as per AppleInsider. Why It Matters: Kuo had previously made the prediction regarding the telephoto lens design and given a timeline of 2022. According to Kuo, Apple will also fine-tune iPhone’s optics this year and make the move from glass to plastic cover materials for Face ID. The company also plans to add a new telephoto lens to its high-end models which will come with a 6P lens stack, an improvement from the 5P design found currently, as per Kuo. See Also: Apple To Offer 1TB Storage Option In iPhone 13: Report Kuo said earlier in the month that Cupertino is likely to launch a foldable iPhone by 2023 which would feature a 7.5-8 inch display, as per MacRumors. 29. $20k in Otterbox… one day (23/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
If Otterbox ever decided to be publicly traded I would buy $20,000. Here’s my DD. I’ve had 6 iPhones in the past 5 years. My first two I didn’t use an Otterbox and the screen cracked or the lcd stopped working. Fast forward to when I got my first credit card and decided to buy the new iPhone 8 Plus. I said. Hmm. I need a good case this time. Lol it was my money now. So I got the Otterbox bc well, I thought they were the best and they weren’t as bulky as they used to be. Fast forward to 30 minutes ago and 4 iPhones later to where I dropped my iPhone 12 Pro face first on concrete, and it didn’t even scratch the fucking screen protector. Between these past few years my phone has been dropped, ran over, thrown a couple times (god darn it GME) lol. But nothing. 0 problems. I did the best math I could: iPhone 6 Plus screen 3 times - $90 x 3 = $270 lcd 1 - $150 iPhone 7 Plus $90-130 screen 2 times - $110 x 2 = $220 lcd 2 times - $150 x 2 = $300 It’s last leg took me on a wild $300 ride between 5 stores to be told I was SOL. I could’ve gotten the warrant but it was all the shxt I had stored on the phone that I cared about! (I still have it.. one day) $1240 for the first two iphones Based on the average for the past 2 phones I did just a little less being that I’ve had these 4 phones in a 3 year time span compared to 2 phones in 2 years. iPhone 8 Plus 2 screen - $169 x 2 = $338 1 lcd - $150 iPhone 11 Pro 2 screen - $279 x 2 = $558 1 lcd - $150 iPhone se 2 screen - $100 x 2 = $200 1 lcd - $150 iPhone 12 Pro 2 screen - $279 = $558 1 lcd - $150 Screen - $1645 Lcd -$600 Total estimated saved - $2245 every 4 years or $561.25 every year. I am almost 25 years old. If I continue this trend, then I would have about 30 more phones throughout my life. So I’ve already save $2245 30 x $561.25 = $16,837.50 Total = $19,082.50 Round it up to $20,000. If Otterbox ever IPO’s I’ll commit to it. 34. Apple Investors Are Looking Ahead to iPhone 13. The Buzz Is Beginning. (01/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Eric J. Savitz•????Last Updated March 1, 2021, 10:36 AM Investors are looking ahead to Apple iPhone 13. It's only been a few months since the arrival of the iPhone 12 lineup, the first Apple (ticker: AAPL) phones designed for 5G wireless networks. But Apple has a long history of annual updates to the iPhone. Aside from last year's slightly delayed launch, Apple has announced new phones every September since 2012. And the speculation on what to expect is beginning to unfold. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives this morning writes that the initial Apple supply-chain orders for the iPhone 13 are in the 100 million-unit range -- which he says compares with an initial build of 80 million iPhone 12 units. "While this number will clearly move around over the coming months, we believe this speaks to an increased confidence with [CEO Tim] Cook & Co. that this 5G-driven product cycle will extend well into 2022 and should also benefit from a post-vaccine consumer-reopening environment," he writes. Ives says he has "increased confidence" that iPhone 13 will have a 1-terabyte storage option, double the highest storage capacity in current models. He says the new phones will include "a number of enhancements," including Lidar across all iPhone 13 models. Meanwhile, Ives continues to think Street consensus iPhone forecasts for the September 2021 fiscal year are too conservative, at around 220 million units. He says that the company still has the potential to reach 240 million to even 250 million units -- and notes that Apple could be on track to beat its best ever year for iPhone units, the 231 million sold in fiscal 2015. That said, Ives writes that March quarter iPhone builds now appear to be in the range of 56 million to 62 million units, down from a previous estimate of 60 million to 70 million units -- he contends that recent softness in Apple stock reflects growing expectations that March quarter demand will be down a little from robust December quarter levels. Apple doesn't actually report unit sales, but the company had December quarter iPhone revenue of $65.5 billion, up 17% from a year earlier, ahead of previous Street consensus estimates of $59.6 billion. For the June quarter, Ives says it still looks the supply chain is building in the mid-40 million units, consistent with previous checks. "Geographically speaking, demand in China looks strong coming out of the Chinese New Year and remains a linchpin to our Apple bull thesis," Ives adds. "We also believe [average selling prices] are continuing to trend higher on a positive mix of iPhone Pro versions and Pro Max shipped, which bodes well for the next few quarters with this top-line tailwind." Apple stock on Monday is up 3.1% to $124.97. Write to Eric J. Savitz at [email protected] © 2021 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. submitted by /u/folkwoodswest [link] [comments]

  35. UBS upgrades AAPL to 'Buy,' raises price target on iPhone stability & auto opportunity (31/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Investment bank UBS has upgraded AAPL to a "Buy" and raised its price target to $142, based on a stable iPhone backdrop and the possibility of Apple entering the car market. In a note to investors seen by AppleInsider, lead analyst David Vogt says that a "more stable long-term iPhone demand backdrop with better [average selling prices]" and Apple's "likely entry into the auto market" are driving the UBS revision on AAPL shares. The analyst says that, based on analysis, aggregate iPhone demand in 2021 and 2022 should be relatively stable. He doesn't believe there's a "supercycle" materializing, but he did raise his 2021 iPhone shipment forecast to 220 million, up from 215 million. Looking ahead to 2022, Vogt also raised his 2022 iPhone shipment estimate to 215 million, up 10 million. He attributes the bump to the "stickiness of the iPhone ecosystem." https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/03/31/ubs-upgrades-aapl-to-buy-raises-price-target-on-iphone-stability-auto-opportunity submitted by /u/chrisdh79 [link] [comments]
