15/09/2021 - 02:22

Expanding its program for returning capital to shareholders, Microsoft late Tuesday said its board voted to both boost its quarterly dividend and adopt a new share repurchase program. Microsoft (ticker: MSFT) raised its quarterly dividend rate by 11%, to 62 cents from 56 cents. It was the 12th straight year that the company has boosted its quarterly payout following its September board meeting. The new rate gives the company a yield of 0.8%. The hike follows increases of 10% last year and 11% in 2019. The company also announced a new $60 billion stock repurchase program, with no specific expiration date. Microsoft also said its board has appointed President Brad Smith to the added role of vice chair. “This reflects the unique leadership role that Brad plays for the company, our board of directors and me, with governments and other external stakeholders around the world,” Microsoft CEO and Chairman Satya Nadella said in a statement. 5. $MSFT Stat of the Day (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Since Feb of 2013, Microsoft’s share price has only been lower from the previous month’s price 18 times. Many of those 18 months that the price dropped was $2 or less from the previous month’s price. Only once did it post more than two consecutive down months. During the last ten years, Microsoft’s annual return is 27.6%. I tried to find another stock that even remotely comes close to msft in terms of consistency and gains and I just couldn’t. Is there anything close to msft in terms of month over month share price growth and overall amazing consistency? I feel like Microsoft should be a core of everyone’s portfolio, if it isn’t already. submitted by /u/WhiteHoney88 [link] [comments]

  8. Is it okay to buy $MSFT (Microsoft) now when it's below $300? (10/09/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Microsoft is definitely a company that will most likely continue to do well and generate good profits especially from Office, XBox, Azure, Windows & etc. I am looking to buy some shares of good companies and hold for the long term (>5 years) and have been looking closely at MSFT. Now that it had a small dip from ATH, is it okay to buy in now while it's below $300 and wait for a bigger pullback? Most people here entered MSFT years ago and before it had a nice run-up since June while I am thinking about buying it now. submitted by /u/guyastronomer [link] [comments]

  9. MSFT for long term (23/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Microsoft hit a $2 trillion market cap. I know the idea of a company being worth $2.5 or $3 trillion is kind of insane, but Microsoft continues to return major increases in revenue/profits annually; plus they control so much in the cloud space. Is there really a reason to believe that Microsoft would be a bad buy at this point? (Note: I already have MSFT shares, just curious if it is worth sticking with a buying pattern) submitted by /u/knights8154 [link] [comments]

It is definitely a positive news for msft. It will enhance msft capability to expand more revenue sources. It also shows that msft is not under antitrust issue and able to keep expanding. 19. Should I sell MSFT for a newer growth stock? (21/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I don't have many shares of MSFT at the moment, but I was wondering if I should keep them in the long term or sell it for a cheaper growth stock. I'm curious what others think because even if Microsoft doubles its value, I don't see it becoming a 5 or 10 bagger compared to where it's at right now. I know they also have dividends, but I don't own enough shares for that to matter much. So for people who have once owned MSFT, what was your reason for selling it? Likewise, for people who own a couple shares, why do you continue to hold it? Thanks in advance for the input. submitted by /u/llfruge [link] [comments]

  33. Using Apple + Microsoft as Cash (19/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
There are likely a bunch of cash gang or cash heavy investors here due to market conditions. Instead of sitting on cash, what if you stored it in two mega cap "safe" stocks? Cathie Woods famously uses Apple and other mega cap tech as cash-like instruments for her ARK ETFs to sell when buying opportunities arise. What if retail investors used Microsoft and Apple as cash in a similar way? AAPL's beta is 1.21 and MSFT's is 0.79. Between the two, there's relative "safety." Apple is up 10% YTD Microsoft is up 28% YTD The USD is down -5.39% YTD During the crash of Feb-March 2020, the S&P500 was down 34% at the lowest point. MSFT and AAPL were down 15% and 29% respectively in the same time span. Tl;dr I'm holding on to a good percentage of cash right now, and am thinking of placing it instead in MSFT and AAPL to sell when I want to buy. Is this a good or bad idea? submitted by /u/KernAlan [link] [comments]

  38. Microsoft $MSFT stock looking bullish and may soon have a surprise announcement! (09/02/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Last year, in 2020 MSFT had a strong rally of 43% to record highs for the year. The earnings released on January 26th show MSFT beat earnings and revenue expectations for the eighth straight quarter as reported on the last earnings report about two weeks ago. Earnings of $2.03 per share easily topped expectations by 39 cents, while revenue of $43.08 billion grew almost 17% year over year and beat estimates by more than $2.8 billion. Since the release of this earnings report, the stock value has been uncharacteristically quiet and only hovering around the $242 range. This made me investigate what’s going on and I discovered over 12 Microsoft insider executives were buying up common stocks as recently reported on February 1st with the SEC Form 4 filings. I calculated 1,348,758 common stock shares were bought by Microsoft insider leadership in the last month. This potentially means MSFT will be releasing some big news in the near future. Potentially even as early as the next couple of weeks and I believe it will be either an M&A, a new technology product, or a large government contract to make all these executives buy common stocks at the all-time high price. I picked up 500 call options as I’m conservatively estimating their stocks might increase over $250 in the next two weeks. Another thing to note is ARK Investment Management LLC reported a 30.67% increase in their ownership of MSFT / Microsoft Corp about three months ago. ARK does a lot better investigating potential disruptive technologies so they might have been previewed to some knowledge that helped them decide to increase their position that much. This is not financial advice and just my opinions. Please do your own DD before making any financial investments. Also please share your thoughts and insights on this as I am also thinking about buying some long-term shares tomorrow depending on what others mention or discovered. submitted by /u/BASEbelt [link] [comments]

  49. Discussion on Microsoft (MSFT) (14/08/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I would just like to start by saying what an absolute unit this stock is. After yesterdays close I figured we'd probably see a small pullback/ some time to pause for this tech giant. Today's price action is even more insane as it practically took a moment to breath after breaking all time highs and proceeded to make several new ones into close. Earlier this year I felt like I was talking out of my ass when I told others that MSFT could hit 300 this year since it's considered a safe stable stock I wouldn't have thought it'd be so close to it so soon. Even with todays price action, 289 to almost breaking 293, I don't forsee it going below 290/ 289 unless something big happens in the next month or so. If you've been following the price like I have, there's barely been any major sell off outside a small dip here or there. Since the end of May it has been zooming towards 300. I don't see why anyone wouldn't have a good amount of their money tucked away in something like Microsoft. This is not buying advice but just wanted to see how others have been feeling about the ticker. submitted by /u/ThisIsCaptain [link] [comments]
