  4. A few Potential Plays for the Next Few Days - IWM, VMW, PENN - Options Flow and Technical Analysis (10/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I have been posting a few plays every day for the last few days and thought about sharing them with the community here. All of these are based on options flow and technical analysis and they seem to have been working quite well. All plays. IWM Bearish Setup Current resistance, puts have been coming in though so might do a dip. - If we break out, this would be a good hedge Consistent repeat flow for puts in last 3 days. Win win either way, no matter where it goes. Flow says might go down. PENN Bullish Setup Caught this in repeated flow, calls towards 165 and 170 so that's the price target. This is a swing setup that might work better with shares. Broke trendline. Volume shelf OTM repeated flow. VMW Bullish Setup Had some repeat flow today for 95 strikes, October 2020. The price action looks good too. You should only enter once we break the resistance level above. The target would be around 95. Might need to wait, but great setup. That's it. Simple, clear setups. Let me know if the community here would like me to post more of these on regular basis. Have a great week. submitted by /u/hydershykh [link] [comments]

  6. Question about GFV and Options (02/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
If I have a stock that if sold today would give a GFV would I still get the GFV if I sold the stock through an option? The option expires today and it's in the money. I am using Webull. If I sold the stock Id get a GFV If I sold the option contract itself I would not get a GFV I couldn't find any other questions like this. It's not a lot of money I would gain or lose so Id rather not take the GFV. I have 8 1$ puts and 600ish stock, I was planning on buying more to sell through the contract but I am waiting till I find out if that would be a GFV. They would be bought with unsettled funds as well. submitted by /u/Billybobjimjoejeffjr [link] [comments]

  7. Robinhood drops 10% in stock trading app’s Nasdaq debut (29/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Shares of Robinhood slipped as much as 10% during its Nasdaq debut, after pricing shares at the low end of the IPO range. The online brokerage started trading on the Nasdaq at $38 per share on Thursday, valuing the popular stock trading app at roughly $32 billion. Trading for the first time under ticker HOOD, the online brokerage hit the public markets it seeks to democratize for amateur investors. Robinhood, whose stock trading app has surged in popularity among retail investors, sold shares in its IPO at $38 a piece on Wednesday evening, at the low end of the $38 and $42 range. However, Robinhood is still valued at 10.5x forward EBITDA. The company sold 52.4 million shares, raising close to $2 billion. Co-founders Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt each sold about $50 million worth of stock. The company was last valued in the private markets at $11.7 billion in September. 8. Options question for ATM exp (10/09/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I sold some puts for a stock that expired ATM today. Am relatively new to options, but not able to find much useful information here. I have been mostly selling covered calls and flipping options for past 6 months or so, and have been doing very good there with volatile stocks, just recently started selling covered puts. In this case selling puts with a $21 strike, and they ended today at $21.00. Premium was $165, and the rest was cash for each contract. Do they expire worthless, and lose all my $$, or does the premium put up return to me plus the price of contract? Sorry for noobish question, but I learn best by doing things. submitted by /u/freelovew1 [link] [comments]

  11. Selling Puts - impact on stock price (14/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So I am new to options trading. Have only been long shares for my entire investing career of 15 years. Started dabbling in selling puts and calls but mostly selling puts. With that, what does selling puts do to the stock? I know my single transaction doesn’t do anything, but multiplied by hundreds of thousands what does it do? Say a stock is trading at $60 and I’m selling puts with a $50 strike. If I’m ultimately long on the stock with shares, will people selling $50 puts drive the share price down? Or somehow influence it? submitted by /u/BlueHorseShoe_2021 [link] [comments]

  14. RobinHood (HOOD) : Who does it actually steals from? (05/08/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
What I saw on Reddit recently: Over 50+ millions of stocks are SOLD by the CEO, CFO, and CMO??? What the hell?? Cathie Wood is still so bullish on this one??? ---Promise or Non-sense? --- Free trades, free everything. How do they make money? Mostly they rely on payment for order flow. They sell your data to trade firms as the firms apply data into algorithms to study the flow of retail money. Robinhood Gold is just a side business. I’m gonna cut the details and skip to the most discussed stuff I saw earlier. Here are some of my takes on them after some research. Please correct me if I’m wrong. The CEO, CFO, and CMO sold over 50+ millions of stocks? What the hell? Hey, man wants to buy a better house and get stoned after long period of grinding. They still own like over 90% of the stock, it’s not like the company is dying. Why Cathie Wood seems so bullish on HOOD? It remains unclear, but could it be a pump and dump? Maybe she’s wants to do it like how WSB did on AMC and GME? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Crypto currency wallet? I personally believe crypto buyers will flock to RH once they launch their service. I should probably save some money up for cryptos now. BTW, I don’t use RobinHood, I might be missing something. Additional details/discussion is appreciated if I miss anything here. submitted by /u/PositiveKarmaaa [link] [comments]

  15. Question Regarding Put Spreads (15/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So I am learning about selling put spreads and my question is this: why wouldnt I just write 500 puts at a super low price? For example, why wouldnt I write 500 puts for SPY at a strike price of 300$? Is there any risk to this? Would I even need to do the second part of the put spread (buying a put at a lower strike than I sold)? Hey r/stocks I’m learning options and have a question about puts. It seems like towards the end of the day (from 3:40-4:00pm) some of my put contracts skyrocket to +100% then back down to -50%. Does this normally happen at the end of the day with puts or is this a bit wacky? Especially if the stock has been climbing all day. The Jump submitted by /u/dredwarlord [link] [comments]

  17. Over 85% of Robinhood (HOOD) Shorts Failed to Deliver in the Second Half of August? (15/09/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Fails-To-Deliver for Robinhood (HOOD) was just published. The data can be really hard to parse/get totals, so I wrote a script to do exactly that. Ran the report through my script and see a total of 18,094,756 shares not delivered. According to the most recent Nasdaq short interest publication there was a 21,210,691 short interest as of August 31st. 18,094,756 / 21,210,691 = 85.3% of reported shorts were unable to deliver/cover?! That seems like an absurd amount, and is more than double the 7.2 million shares-not-delivered for the first half of August. What kind of games are being played here....? 19. I will be buying a certain gamer stock if it goes under $35 (19/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I recommend that those of you who are not familiar with the original bull thesis for $GAME (actual ticker is banned on the sub) look it up on Roaring Kitty's YT. He did a much better job of explaining it than I ever could. IMO the biggest thing the company has going for it is Cohen. People underestimate what good leadership can accomplish, just look at Lisa Su and AMD. I first bought the stock (calls actually) in the summer when it was under $5 and sold it when it got close to $150 for the first time. I dont believe in any of the short squeeze stuff, I just think its a good small cap value play in an environment filled with extremely high PE growth stocks. My plan is to sell cash secured puts, 6 weeks out at the 35 strike when $GAME gets near $35. I will probably sell them 1 or 2 at a time for a few weeks until I have sold enough puts get the amount of shares I want. If the puts lose 50% of their value and $GAME is trading above the strike, I plan to buy it back and sell it at a higher strike since my goal is to get assigned. Keep in mind my allocation to $GAME will only be about 3% of my portfolio. Although I believe there is good upside to be had, there is obviously significant downside risk as well. I dont encourage anyone else to make a similar investment, the purpose of this post is to see what the community thinks of the growth prospects of the company and create a discussion on what the true value of the stock is. submitted by /u/tanepamj [link] [comments]

  20. I just did the wildest thing I’ve ever done in trading. All my money PYPL call options . (05/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I got into investing in march 2020 with $14,000. Turned that into $65,000 by mid feb mostly trading options. And then everything went south and I’ve been trying to build back up since then. I’ve been back at 30k four weeks ago but I made the dumbest mistake ever and bought into COIN options the day options started trading on COIN and it’s just dropping since then and as of today was down 75%! Another big mistake was buying puts on UPS when it hit $195 because I had sold call options on UPS with 160% gain at $190 and I wasn’t forgiving myself for selling so I bought puts and almost lost everything there... down a lot on MSFT call options too. Today was first time ever my account hit a minus and I decided I gotta get back on my feet! Sold everything (except for DKNG call options) and threw it all into PYPL 9/17 $270 calls. Average analyst pt for PYPL is $310 and I bought at $247 so not so bad but I’m petrified about earnings coming up tomorrow after hours! 28. I learnt two valueable lessons this week. Take profit, don't FOMO (07/08/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Most notable play is HOOD. Bought it up at $37 took profit at around 78 and 68 both 50% of my shares. So I doubled my money. I almost went ahead to buy back in due to FOMO but I stopped myself. Played a number of stocks this week and some of it I sold for a small loss and others I sold for a small gain not caring what happens to the stock after. I'm not a day trader just swing trading for a hobby and side income. I have lost 10% of my money before because I refused to sell. Right now, I'm still bag holding SPCE and PLTR both of which I made a substantial profit on but didn't sell because I "believed in them" and am not deep red on them. submitted by /u/Johnathan_wickerino [link] [comments]

  29. $TMO, $PENN or $CRI? Or all? (31/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I'm looking for a blue chip medical devices stock to add to my portfolio. I looked at a mutual fund and TMO was the heaviest followed by PENN (Penumbra) and CRI (Charles River). I used to have 5% in TMO in my IRA but got impatient and sold it with a small gain. I've only been investing 1.5 years so it wasn't long. Anyways I realize about the "can't go by past returns" but since these are blue chips and an offset to my tech heavy portfolio (mostly semi equipment and MSFT AAPL GOOGL PYPL NVDA etc) I just plan on holding them for the long term. So TMO returns were: 1987 to 2021 16+% 2000 to 2021 19+% 2011 to 2021 24+% 2016 to 2021 27+% It has a market correlation of 0.52. What's that mean? Is that good in a sell off? Or not necessarily? Also it's Sharpe is .58. Whats that? It's Sortino is .92. What's that? Thoughts on Penumbra or Charles River in comparison to TMO? I don't know much other than they're medical equipment and I figure anything medical related, especially in an aging population will always be around and medical costs keep going up and up. Thanks. submitted by /u/apooroldinvestor [link] [comments]

  30. For GME, AMC, BB - You might ask tomorrow, "Why are my PUTS increasing in value too" (25/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
There are many new traders who are not aware of this so I thought I'd make a quick post about it. Many of the PUT holders for $GME and $AMC are going to realize that their puts have also increased in value. They'll be like wtf? This happens because one of the greeks is called Vega which controls options prices based on implied volatility changes. When IV increases significantly, prices for both calls and puts also increase by a large amount because an increase in vega positively correlates with an increase in prices irrespective of whether it's a call or put. Another tip. If you really like the $GME company, you can sell far out of the money puts tomorrow (cash secured puts) for extremely high premiums. That gives you an extremely low risk and high reward. I might sell Jan 21 $20 puts.
