  20. Maintenance Fee on reverse split? (02/08/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I was charged $38 when GE did their reverse split the other day. Can someone explain why TD would charge a maintenance fee for that but not a regular split? It seems like either way it's the same dollar value in my account, but the number of shares simply changes. I even had an evenly divisible number of GE shares in my account so I didn't have any fractional after the reverse split. Edit: @mods sorry if the flair is wrong. Took my best guess for something like this. submitted by /u/jmorlin [link] [comments]

  21. $GE reverse stock split (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Can someone please explain to me why the news that GE will be doing a reverse 8 to 1 split would cause the huge drop we saw this week? I know the stigma around reverse splits because they are usually done when a ticker is going to be delisted but GE has had so much momentum lately and it seems like they are just trying to cut down the number of shares to compare to others in their market cap range. Also if anyone has something else they'd like to add about GE's outlook be my guest. My GE positions for full transparency, pretty bullish on this one. 12$ 3/19, 12.5$ 4/1, 13$ 4/1, 18$ 9/17 submitted by /u/DoobieSnacks47 [link] [comments]

  22. Reverse Stock Split (13/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hey all, I am relatively new to options trading (I know I know) but it’s disposable income and I enjoy it. So far the only trade I have done is an RKT call and it worked out, so I working on what to do next. I have been reading about AHT, it looks like a pretty undervalued company. And I came across an article today regarding a 1/10 reverse stock split coming on 7/19. Being green at this, I was wondering if anyone has gotten involved in a stock where a planned reverse split was coming. Is there a way to take advantage of this? Is this why the stock has plummeted in the last 1-2 months? If I bought, say 10 call contracts today, would it split to 1 after 7/19? Thanks submitted by /u/nickmoski [link] [comments]

  23. How will a reverse split affect options? (05/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Hi there, New to options trading and I was wondering how a reverse split would affect this? As an example, let's say I have options on a call with a strike price set to $10 and the stock is currently sitting at $5. For some reason the company decides to run a reverse split on their stock. If the reverse split happens so that the stock value is now at $10, how would this affect the option? Will the option always be corrected for this? Any help would be appreciated. Let me know whether this is making any sense or not. Like I said, I'm new to options trading so the "lingo" might be off. Thanks submitted by /u/alwaysreadytoblast [link] [comments]

  24. Get this money. Papa George and Papa Elon gonna make it rain. FTD T+21 / Special Dividend (28/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
MMAT (Meta materials) is a nano-tech company with possible inroads to TSLA (Not Verifiable except the building they share in Nova Scotia and a secretive tweet between MMAT CEO and PAPA Musk... secretive because they both speak english.) Source Twitter TRCH is Reverse Merging with MMAT on Monday 6/28. TRCH issued a special dividend before the reverse merger. TRCH was heavily shorted. TRCH also performed a reverse split 2:1 on 6/25 after close. I believe the special dividend is the key to a potential short squeeze. The CUSIP change from the reverse merger is the icing on the cake. This DD centers around Fails To Deliver FTD's and how they play into the T+21 settlement cycle that we are currently seeing with heavily shorted stocks. What is a Fail To Deliver (FTD) ??? An FTD is when one party in a contract fails to deliver their end. In our example this is the short hedge funds failing to deliver the shares that they borrowed and shorted. They haven't bought them back at a loss yet, because they have a plan.: Fail to deliver now and buy later once they get the price down. What is a T+21 ??? T+21 refers to the 21 day settlement cycle. Most of us should be familiar with the T+2 settlement cycle. That's the reason that you needed to buy before the close on 6/22 to have shares for the ex dividend date 6/24. T+21 refers to the 21 day time between an FTD and when the trade must be settled. REG Sho Rule 204 has some T+X numbers that when added up seem to make this T+21 cycle that we are seeing. link to reg sho https://www.sec.gov/investor/pubs/regsho.htm Source SEC Reg sho rule 204 What is a CUSIP? A CUSIP number is an identifier used to show the issuer and type of security. When this gets changed , the shares being converted must be closed out. Source Investopedia Why compare this with Overstock? Overstock issued a special dividend. This is very similar to the TRCH dividend that was issued. The special dividend caused Overstock to short squeeze. Source Webull This Overstock squeeze took nearly 3 months to peak. You can see midway through each T+21 cycle there is a sharp rise and the end of each cycle shows a rise followed by a flat spot. How is this good for us? Papa George (MMAT CEO) seems keen on destroying shorts, so he made the same play by issuing the special dividend. This could cause a more compacted squeeze timeline. FTD's can't be covered with any available resource other than the shares. That's why this play is better than the overstock play It was also noted that the dividend was paid out pre-reverse split. This means any fails on the dividend should be compounded by the reverse split since they were already issued. Expectations I just want to get this information out so people have proper expectations for next week. The first FTD from the dividend already happened, so we are on the clock starting 6/24 which puts our first T+21 @ 7/23. CUSIP FTDs for the Merger create a back to back FTD cycle within 2 trading days. This is huge! The first T+21 (dividend) followed immediately by T+21(CUSIP). Mix this with any bullish news and Shorts will be Torched. Back to back T+21 for FTDs 7/23 and 7/27 This means we could see increasing gains as we approach T+21. https://preview.redd.it/6g2e0krmtw771.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18fb9f8f3c5a72832b14022a6625509861a901cf submitted by /u/judeisnotobscure [link] [comments]

  25. Bought LEAP has since announced a reverse stock split (03/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I'm weeks-new, a mix of impatient and uneducated when it comes to the stock market. Having been rejected for option spreads (and ineligible to reapply for 60 days) my impatience spawned the ok idea of buying a LEAP on an industry poised to recover from COVID: hotels. Finding AHT as a bargain and doing some research (bc I barely know what I'm doing) I concluded "this price is low, will probably go up or sideways" and bought a deep ITM call for December. My profits went up -- then they got added to the Russel and the price dropped. I held, believing in the industry and "unrealized" losses. I wake up after a nap through market close and I read that there's gonna be a reverse stock split -- the price is friggin' low after I hastily opened my app. So the advice I'm asking for is: is this typical when reverse stock splits are announced and does the price usually bounce back within months? Does this reverse stock split fundamentally change anything since the option's strike price, quantity, and underlying changes accordingly? submitted by /u/herbalation [link] [comments]

I was looking at GE the other day in reference to their recent reverse split of 8:1 which caused the price to change from ~$12 to ~$100. What happens to short positions in this situation? -Are they forced to close. -Are the positions just altered/adjusted to reflect the new price just as if it was a long position. -Or do they just win big. submitted by /u/No-Function3409 [link] [comments]

  30. Cap gains loss disallowed after reverse split (10/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
I think I understand this but just wanted to make sure. One of the stocks I own had a reverse split last month and my brokerage ended up liquidating a fraction of a share due to there not being enough to equal a whole share of the stock after the split. My cap gains loss was under a dollar. I then bought a few more shares of the stock after the reverse split completed. My brokerage is showing that previous loss is disallowed now. If I understand this right, since I bought more shares of the stock within 30 days, the previous loss is disallowed but carries over and is added in to my cost basis for the new shares. submitted by /u/Jakra64 [link] [comments]

  34. General Electric Shareholders (07/04/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
The 1 for 8 stock split is in the proxy statement I just received. From the link provided, you can download the proxy statement. The reverse stock split is discussed on pages 60-63. For the record, I am against the stock split. GE has 7.5 billion shares outstanding with 13.2 billion shares authorized. How did these numbers get so big? After the stock split they estimate there will be 1.1 billion shares outstanding and 1.65 billion shares authorized. So after the split, 2/3 of the stock will be outstanding and 1/3 float. Then there is the question of fractional shares. Right now GE is not planning on issuing fractional shares. So unless the number of shares you own is divisible by 8, you will receive cash in lieu of fractional shares.https://www.ge.com/investor-relations/proxy-statement submitted by /u/inkslingerben [link] [comments]

  46. GE proposing 1:8 reverse split. Is this cause for panic? (10/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
GE has been somewhat struggling in recent years, though recently reached a high of around $14 before a 7% drop following the announcement of the intention to reverse split. GE did a 1:8 reverse split over the weekend. So if you owned 8 shares worth $13/share, you now own 1 share worth $104. (Actually, it's up a bit today, so it's worth $106.) But I owned 100 shares. 48. UVXY options reverse split question (08/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
A few months ago, I bought some UVXY put options at $3 strike. Also had some LEAPS calls at $25. Since it reverse split 10:1, the new price as related to options is confusing. UVXY1 option is now worth 10 shares of uvxy rather than 100. My broker used to display the current value with an adjusted strike price which made sense to me. Now it’s showing the original strikes. So, I have a long uvxy1 call at $25 and long put at $3. Before reverse splitting, the call was way OTM and the put nearly ITM. Now it seems reversed with underlying at $33. I used to think of it as multiplying the old strike by the reverse split multiple, so my call would now be strike $250 and put $30. Is that accurate? Are either of my UVXY1 options ITM now? If underlying dips to $28? Thank you for weighing in. submitted by /u/BlazingPalm [link] [comments]
