  5. Does investing in stocks automatically make me eligible to file taxes in the US? Even if I barely have any income? (02/09/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I am an American living in Brazil, and the way it works here is that if you earn less than R$ 28,000 per year, you don't need to file taxes. But, if you buy a single stock, you now have to, regardless of whether you have any income or not. I recently bought American stocks, so I'm wondering if there's any rule in the US for this too. submitted by /u/yayaboy2468 [link] [comments]

  9. Tax on 17 cents? (19/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I’ve recently turned 18 and have been using paper trade sites on and off since middle school. I eagerly made an account and wanted to try my first real trade. I bought ALF to see how buying works on the platform. A minute later I sold for 17 cents profit to see how that works. I forgot that taxes exist, will I need to fill out taxes for 17 cents? I don’t know exactly how that works. I looked online and apparently if you make under 40,000$ it’s 0% tax but honestly I don’t know what I was looking at or if that information is accurate. Any information would be helpful, thank you. submitted by /u/pawspk [link] [comments]

  10. How would one get started in stocks? (04/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hi so I need some help. Firstly I realize the idea of living off stocks income, becoming a millionaire/billionaire/ungodly wealthy with stocks is pretty unrealistic especially with little early investment and that's not my goal. But I want to know.. how do you get started in the stock market? I have family who have stocks, hell I was purchased Disney stocks when I was young and I know they're supposedly a good way to make decent money/have a life preserver should something happen, but how do you actually get started? Like what would be a good initial investment to understand how this all works or better, what's something I could watch/read that might help me wrap my head around how all this works? Any advice is welcome, I am a COMPLETE novice when it comes to this but I'd really like to learn and understand. Thanks in advance :) submitted by /u/DrEnd585 [link] [comments]

  20. Question about trailing stop buy, want to know for sure on how it works (19/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I want to make sure I understand how this works, I always use a sell trailing stop so I know how that works, but I never used a buy trailing stop. Lets say stock ABC is at $100 per share, I want to buy one stock at a buy trailing stop at 5%. Stock goes up $105, does that trigger a buy? or will it force it to always be under $95? (for that maybe thats considered a "buy trailing stop limit"). I know with a sell trailing stop at 5%, it will follow it, as in Stock goes from $100 to $120 and decides to do down 5% so it will be $114 and it will trigger a sell. a Buy trailing stop is confusing me a little since I am trying to think of it as doing the opposite submitted by /u/Galion- [link] [comments]

Income, or net income, is a company's total earnings or profit. But easieraccounting differentiates income and profit:: Income is the top-line revenue. This number is calculated by tallying every penny that came into the company during a given period. On the other hand, profit is the amount that is left over after the expenses have been paid This is defining income as what Investopedia defines as revenue. Is the fidelity brokerage account good for this or should I look into another platform. If you recommend a different platform, which one should that be? I mostly want to do it for fun and see what happens and hopefully maybe get a few bucks out of it. Thanks for all the advice, I am new to this and don't yet completely understand how it all works. submitted by /u/Jennybird1223 [link] [comments]
