NVIDIA (NVDA) Stock Split Problems

Reddit Stocks

22/07/2021 - 03:05

ASX Trader owning US stocks - I have a problem, and want to know if I am alone? NVIDIA recently underwent a 4-1 Stock Split a few days ago. I had approx. $4000 in value in NVDA prior to the stock split. Since the split, my brokerage account is showing a 70% loss in my NVDA holding, and the split details haven't updated in my account (CMC). So now, it is showing that my holdings total is $1300, with a -$2700 loss. Not only is this frustrating to look at, but yesterday the stock went up 4.3% and I only gained money based on the $1300 that 'remains' in this holding, instead of the $4000 that should be in there. I called my brokerage account (CMC) and they said: "Please note that we are aware of this split and our international brokers are in the process of arranging this on the platform and will be reflected in due course. Please note with international corporate actions this is quite a slow process to migrate to your platform for international corporate action and can take a couple of weeks unlike ASX listed stock which occur instantly. You do not need to take any action and this will be updated ASAP." Am I the only one missing something here? I could be losing hundreds of dollars every day if the stock is trending upwards, waiting for this to adjust in a week or so time.... Any help, guideance would be highly appreciated, as this hasn't happened to me before, and I'm NOT happy about it. submitted by /u/SiimplStudio [link] [comments]

  1. NVDA Split, Record date is June 21, Trading on stock split-adjusted basis July 20, what will it cost June 22? (15/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So here is the wording on NVDA on their press release https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-announces-four-for-one-stock-split-pending-stockholder-approval-at-annual-meeting-set-for-june-3 "If approval is obtained, each NVIDIA stockholder of record at the close of business on June 21, 2021, will receive a dividend of three additional shares of common stock for every share held on the record date, to be distributed after the close of trading on July 19, 2021. Trading is expected to begin on a stock split-adjusted basis on July 20." So does this mean I have to own it on June 21 to get the split? And it trades at the new split price July 20? So what if you buy it June 22, are you paying ~$700 for it to trade at the new price July 20 of ~$175 and not eligible for the split? I called TD Ameritrade, and their corporate action department said the ex date is July 19 and you just need to hold it by July 19 and the record date doesn't matter to get the split.. What? Thats not how I read their press release... submitted by /u/ieatpeaches [link] [comments]

Just have a quick question, I want to get in on NVIDIA....I was reading up on there stock split happening in July. Iv been reading that share holders that hold NVIDIA as of June 21 will recieve the 3 additional shares...my question is, if I buy NVIDIA now or before the split date, do I still get my shares split if I buy NVIDIA at its current price? It seems like who bought before June 21st get there shares split but not the ones after, can someone clear this up for me please! submitted by /u/ReeferMadness91 [link] [comments]

But is the ex-dividend date correct? Or am I just sitting with my current shares as of 6/21? TLDR : motley fool says that although the Nvidia stock split counts your shares as of 6/21...the split is in the form of ex-dividend so they won't calculate until the dividend processes on 7/19 submitted by /u/knights8154 [link] [comments]

  4. Questions regarding NVDA stock split (23/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I am a new investor and have recently bought 2 shares of NVDA on June 21 monday morning. I have only found out today that NVDA will be doing a stock split and "each shareholder of Nvidia as of June 21, will receive a stock dividend of 3 additional common shares for every share held " (from yahoo finance). My questions: do I still get the 3 additional common shares even if I bought at June 21 morning? And do these count as the splitted stock or additional bonuses? for those who bought after June 21, do they not get the splitted stock? submitted by /u/rayzzzzzz1 [link] [comments]

  5. NVIDIA stock split (20/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So nvidia just had a stock split and the value of my stock increased by 320%. So you would instantly think it’s time to sell right? But the stock value in general is down because of the split and will therefore rise easily right? So what is the appropriate move here? To my knowledge I should hold or even buy more, as the price on them are down. I’m kinda new though so I would love confirmation on my thought process. submitted by /u/jacobljlj [link] [comments]

So I have 6 NVDA purchased before record date at around $714. I plan to hold the stock long term but wouldn't mind selling to reposition after the split. Is it better to sell before split, wait for correction and buy back again or should I just hold through the split? submitted by /u/jhonecute [link] [comments]

Been looking at NVDA as a long hold recently, just wondering about how stock splits work , so if i buy now at $814, im too late for the stock split right ( as far as im aware everyone that owned shares before a certain date are getting a 4:1 or something? )? and i may aswell just wait for the split and buy after? 11. Nvidia Stock Split on July 20th (14/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Relatively new to the stock game, and I got into Nvidia late. But it has been moderately profitable for me, even with a lot of stocks dropping lately. The upcoming stock split on July 20th concerns me. I feel like the phrase "It's priced in" is and should be incredibly accurate. So I'm thinking after the stock splits, there may be a small bump, but I then fear a free for all with so many people selling the stock post split. Obviously this is a good long term stock but, like everything else, it is currently overvalued. What are your thoughts on how the stock will act after the split. 12. Should I sell NVDA before or after the stock split? Or just keep holding (20/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I have around 15 shares of NVDA, my average buy in price is $495. Anyways for the last week or so, I have really been debating whether or no to sell before the stock split, to take my profits and avoid a mass sell off. Some other research I have done showed that some companies actually had some nice buy in after the stock split though. Another thought I had was of course to keep it longer term, just hoping that it continues to slowly rise. Anyone in a similar scenario or has any kind of advice? thanks submitted by /u/Lochtide17 [link] [comments]

  21. Question Regarding NVDA Stock Split (17/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
On many websites, it states that “Each shareholder of record as of June 21 will receive and additional three shares of stock for every share held. The share will be distributed after the market close on July 19, and the newly split shares will begin trading when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20.” If I were to buy any shares after June 21, what happens to them? I’m under the assumption the share price stays pre-split until July 20. Does my share just go down to that split price, but I only have one share? I have no positions in NVDA. submitted by /u/Blahty [link] [comments]

  25. Nvidia Stock Could Very Well Be the Best Buy of the Decade (14/07/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
NVDA Stock Could Very Well Be the Best Buy of the Decade | InvestorPlace NVDA stock has massive growth prospects and its strong fundamentals prove it 1h ago · By Vandita Jadeja After announcing the stock split, Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) is working towards the proposed acquisition of the UK Based Arm. The deal is just on more reason to love NVDA stock. The $40 billion transaction has attracted a lot of scrutiny from chip companies and regulators across the world. Once this deal closes, Nvidia will enjoy a competitive advantage in the industry. It also will become a major player as a provider for the chip industry and will rule the world of AI. The stock split had nothing to do with the fundamentals of the company but the stock is up 12% over the past month, a whopping 47% over the last six months, and close to 100% over the past year. I am bullish on NVDA stock and had recommended a buy when the company announced a stock split. If you had purchased the stock based on my recommendation at $700, 0n June 9, you would be sitting on gains today. The stock is changing hands today at around $860. There is no stopping the momentum of NVDA stock. It is hitting new highs every week and the sooner you buy in, the better your chances at making money. With that in mind, let’s dig deeper into my investment case for NVDA stock. Red Hot NVDA Stock The pandemic has not been kind to many tech companies but Nvidia is not one of them. It is enjoying red hot business with data centers, gaming, cryptocurrency mining and AI that drive the revenue growth. Keep in mind that the industry was fighting a chip shortage and this has had an impact on every company but the revenue numbers of Nvidia show that it can sustain the growth in any business condition. You name it and Nvidia has it. Right from the date centers to the gaming industry, electric vehicles, and cryptocurrencies, the company has products and services that will thrive in the future. These sectors are only expanding with time and your investment will grow along with them. The company recently launched Cambridge-1, the most powerful supercomputer in the U.K. This technological marvel will allow healthcare experts and scientists to use AI and accelerate the digital biology revolution. It is a $100 million investment by Nvidia. The market for AI is massive and Nvidia remains at the forefront of the technology. It is constantly working on building powerful productions around AI and it could drive massive sales for over the next five years. I am not the only one bullish on NVDA stock. KeyBanc analyst John Vinh has an Overweight rating with a price target of $950. The analyst believes that the gaming demand will remain robust and will drive sales. Further, Rick Schafer, an Oppenheimer analyst has a price target of $925 with an Outperform rating. Truist analyst William Stein has raised the price target of NVDA stock to $910 and has a buy rating. The analyst believes that the data center will generate high revenue as the demand checks are tracking higher and the market will continue to grow. The Bottom Line on NVDA Whether you buy NVDA stock now or wait for the dip, the stock is only going higher. There is no doubting the fundamentals of the company and it is only going to grow its market share over the years. Once the ARM deal is settled, there is no looking back. Nvidia is making its presence felt across several industries and the demand for its chips is only increasing each quarter. The company will soon announce Q2 results and it could push the stock higher. Now is the right time to add the tech giant to your portfolio. The company announces Q2 results in mid-August. This will give a perspective about the remaining two quarters. Buy NVDA stock and hold for the long term. On the date of publication, Vandita Jadeja did not have (either directly or indirectly) any positions in the securities mentioned in this article. 26. Have a few shares of NVDA I bought couple years about for $170/share. Wondering if I should sell now and rebuy after split with profits? (17/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I am relatively new to stocks. And don’t have a ton of cash flow so I just purchase a couple here and there. I bought 2 shares of NVDA for $170/share couple years ago. Just heard news of the split and have been watching the price rally like crazy. It is tempting to sell at around $750 it is now to make 350% profit or so. Not sure if I should or hold on for the split so I have a total of 8 of the stock instead of 2? Or sell and then rebuy 8 with the profits at the post-split when the stock price is back to what I paid for originally. So then my investment would be $0 for 8 instead of $340 for 8. Or am I thinking of this all wrong? submitted by /u/sierra400 [link] [comments]

  27. Shareholders Approve NVIDIA Stock Split (09/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Shareholders finally approve NVIDIA stock split. The stock split will be payable in the form of a stock dividend. Each shareholder of record as of June 21 will receive an additional three shares of stock for every share held. The shares will be distributed after the market close on July 19, and the newly split shares will begin trading when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20. Existing shareholders won't have to do anything to receive the additional shares, which will be deposited directly into their brokerage accounts once the stock split takes effect. It's important to note that investors shouldn't necessarily expect the new shares to appear in their account immediately after the market close on July 19. As internal processes differ from brokerage to brokerage, it may take as many as several days for the new shares to show up in investor accounts. Finally, investors should remember that a stock split does nothing to change the value of the underlying business, but merely divides it into a great number of ownership portions. As an example, NVIDIA shares have lately been trading for roughly $700. This means instead of having one share worth $700, shareholders would own four shares, each worth $175. submitted by /u/gorays21 [link] [comments]

  28. What are your thoughts on NVDA? (03/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I'm debating going all in on NVDA. I had something like 20 shares and I sold before the earnings announcement, which the stock dropped after, but now has continued on an uptrend. I'm debating on buying 50 shares before the split. I believe in the company, the CEO, and the revenue is excellent. They are up 83% from the 2020 quarter earnings. They are the leader in GPUS (by far) and I really feel like this is a solid company, based on the technology and their earnings. I am debating on investing 33k until the split to see how it goes. The stock is at an all-time high, but is clearly in an uptrend, with the revenue to back it up. What are your thoughts on NVDA? Is this a buy? 33. Still Confused About the Nvidia Split (23/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I’m just looking for some clarification on the matter. From what I read, you had to own the stock before June 21, and the split takes effect on July 11. That doesn’t make sense to me though. Why would anyone buy shares of the company between the 21st and 11th? Is the correct answer that any shares prior to the 11th are going to split? 34. Question about NVDA's Stock Split/Dividend (10/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Hey friendos. I have been having a hell-uv-a-time trying to figure out the mechanics of the NVDA stock split that just got approved. The stock split will be payable in the form of a stock dividend. Each shareholder of record as of June 21 will receive an additional three shares of stock for every share held. The shares will be distributed after the market close on July 19, and the newly split shares will begin trading when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20. So my question is, if I buy shares on the friday before record date, do I have to hold until the Jul 19th, or am I in the clear b/c the shares are being distributed as a "dividend". My instincts tell me that it should probably read share holders as of the split date will receive 3:1 because otherwise a new shareholder after the 21st of Jun basically committed to losing 75% of the value. My experience with "dividends" if you hold on the record date the next day you can sell and still receive the dividend... The wording just seems off... or I could be crazy... I guess is a "stock" dividend materially different than a "cash dividend"? thanks submitted by /u/geggleto [link] [comments]

The stock opened $10 lower on Monday morning but quickly ripped higher by 6% in the first 90 minutes of trading. The stock will undergo a 4-for-1 stock split Tuesday morning. David Green, host of Live Trading With David Green on Benzinga, pointed out the strong trend in NVIDIA's stock on Monday's show. “I want to be long NVIDIA,” Green said. “We will get a lot of action once we have earnings coming out.” Live Trading With David Green is a morning trading show in which David live trades the open on Benzinga. The show airs Monday-Wednesday at 9:25 am ET on BenzingaTV. Stocks Discussed On The Show Green also discussed GameStop Corp (NYSE: GME), saying that he was not willing to short the stock at current levels. “It looks like a better buy than a sell right now,” Green said. Green also said he was long Roblox Corp (NYSE: RBLX), saying the stock was tough to trade, but that he liked it at current levels (around $75 a share). Additionally, Green explained that he was long Virgin Galactic Holding Inc (NYSE: SPCE), via selling puts. “SPCE came down right to our pivot levels at $27.60, I would be fine owning stock at that price which is why we sold puts right at that level,” Green said. Green mostly executes quick day trades, both on the long and short side. When a stock hits one of his pivot points he initiates a buy order with a tight stop loss. 39. One record-breaking stock can rally another 140%, chart suggests (10/06/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Nvidia stock set for another 140% rally, chart suggests (cnbc.com) PUBLISHED THU, JUN 10 20216:53 AM EDT UPDATED 42 MIN AGO Keris [email protected] In this article NVDA-4.83 (-0.70%) ADP-1.62 (-0.81%) The S&P 500 came frustratingly close to a record high but failed to cross that hurdle. Still, several stocks have managed to make new highs this week, including ADP, Target, eBay, T-Mobile and Nvidia. Todd Gordon, founder of TradingAnalysis.com, told CNBC on Wednesday that one of those stocks should continue its hot streak on the back of a rotation back into technology. “You’re seeing a rotation back into the large-, medium-cap growth relative to value, … and Nvidia is the play. This is obviously the largest GPU and AI play out there,” Gordon said on “Trading Nation.” NVIDIA (NVDA) “We’ve been in a massive uptrend since 2015. We don’t show resistance until about $,1650. Nvidia is the second largest holding stock in my portfolio, behind Apple,” said Gordon. Nvidia would need to climb more than 137% to reach Gordon’s target. He said there’s still opportunity to buy the stock in any near-term dip. “We just broke out of year-long range between about $650 and $500. ... So if you have any pullback to $650 it’s buyable,” he said. Nvidia closed Wednesday above $694. A move to $650 implies a 6% pullback. Delano Saporu, founder of New Street Advisors, has his eye on a different record-breaking stock. “I really like ADP here,” Saporu said during the same interview. “Their highest margin business, their employer services segment, that’s going to have a lot of tailwinds with our expanding economy. We’re back on the mend. These are things that benefit well for the … business.” ADP’s employer services business makes up 69% of total revenue. Overall sales are expected to increase by 9% for its June-ended quarter, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet. “They’re returning money and rewarding shareholders with $1 billion in share repurchases. They also had about $1.5 billion in dividends. This is a company that I really think is strong,” said Saporu. Disclosure: Gordon holds NVDA. submitted by /u/SavannahSmiles_ [link] [comments]

  41. NVDA split not reflecting correct number of shares on TD WebBroker? (20/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
So since NVDA split from 1 to 4 shares, it should show my current 6 shares from before as 24 shares now right? Is it just because TD hasn’t actually updated it yet? The price is updated but the number of shares hasn’t. Just wondering if other people using TD WebBroker had this issue. submitted by /u/Jonolee [link] [comments]

  43. anyone has experience with stock split? (12/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I bought one contract of $EDU (a Chinese private education company) call yesterday, without knowing their stock would split. So stock split today, my one contract became 10. And the stock went up 6%, that's really sweet, doubled the value. My question is, do stocks usually go up for multiple days after split? I'm debating whether to take profit. Anyone who experienced the TESLA split, can you share some advice? appreciate it. submitted by /u/evil_666_live [link] [comments]

  44. I can sell covered calls against my NVDA position because of the split, but would that be playing with fire? (23/07/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I had a position in NVDA pre-split, that increased into a position large enough to write options against. But is this playing with fire? I can monitor my positions daily, and as long as I don't get assigned early in the morning I can generally make adjustments like rolling up/out. But this stock seems super duper volatile lately. Would you consider this to be an overly risky proposition? I'm generally selling weekly options, and the couple times I've been near-the-money with covered calls I was able to roll up/out and still come out ahead. The IV is 45% vs 38% historical volatility, which doesn't seem too far out of line, yet the actual price movement seems to have been pretty drastic. 46. Qualcomm objects to Nvidia’s $40 billion Arm acquisition (12/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/12/qualcomm-objects-to-nvidias-40-billion-arm-acquisition.html Qualcomm has told regulators around the world that it is against Nvidia’s $40 billion acquisition of British chip designer Arm, according to sources familiar with the matter. The company has told the Federal Trade Commission, the European Commission, the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority and China’s State Administration for Market Regulation that it has concerns about the deal. The FTC’s investigation has moved to a “second phase” and the U.S. regulator has asked SoftBank, Nvidia and Arm to provide it with more information. I think nvda arm acquisition will be very difficult to go through. Many companies and governments will object to this deal. Also, China will also block the deal unless nvda can provide a good reason for the acquisition. It will cause a lot of unfair competitions if this deal go through. submitted by /u/coolcomfort123 [link] [comments]

  47. Why Everyone Should Own or Watch Nvidia Stock in 2021 (24/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
With Nvidia being the creator of the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit), its benefitting from all the recent trends and ones to stay. Their chips are being used by industry leaders Amazon's AWS, Microsoft's Azure Cloud, Alphabet's Google Cloud, International Business Machines' IBM Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud. Their GPUS are crucial in the success of AI. Everyone is trying to develop their own AI processor but at this point, the GPU is still the go to for both researchers and data centers wanting to run AI and other sophisticated algorithms. For example, it will supply NIO the electric vehicle car company in China with its chips for its newest sedan the ET7. Another reason why everyone should own Nvidia stock is because of their GRACE CPU. Although Intel holds 90% of the CPU market, their GRACE CPU now will have 10 times the performance of any leading CPU on the market! Theres more details in the video i made below. Just wanted everyone to be aware of what Nvidia is doing and why it may be worth either having on your watch list or a stock to own. In addition they are also doing a 4 to 1 stock split on July 19th which will make each share valued at roughly $150 according to todays stock price. https://youtu.be/n5alFa4QNm8 submitted by /u/gagan45678 [link] [comments]

  49. NVDA & ARM? Consequences of a failed acquisition? (15/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I'm holding a lot of NVDA right now and I'm a bit concerned that the ARM merger might fall through which I'm sure would be disasterous for the stock (at least a big short term hit). What I've read shows the deal won't be finalized until 2022 but what concerns me is an early end from a country rejecting the merger terms. I also see now that Qualcomm has injected itself into the story. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/08/nvidias-acquisition-of-arm-set-to-be-delayed-by-chinese-regulators.html https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/14/qualcomm-offers-to-invest-in-arm-as-regulators-threaten-nvidia-deal.html What do you guys this of the merger timeline and is there any way to monitor the progress? Perhaps this thread could keep us up to date on NVDA/ARM news. submitted by /u/dreamliner330 [link] [comments]
