  11. What's the best way to profit from the current silicon shortage? (15/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
This shortage is one of many factors currently driving up the price of GPUs (in particular). This is largely due to an unprecedented demand for consumer electronics over the past year and bottlenecks in the production and transportation of silicon chips due to the pandemic, and is also due in part to a rising focus to grow domestic silicon chip production to reduce reliance on Taiwan and China. This is a multi-faceted issue, and I'm unsure where the best places to put my money would be. 13. Is now the time to invest in Chinese EV stocks? (NIO, XPEV, BYDDY, LI) (28/02/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Chinese stocks, especially those in the EV sector have been selling off recently. The general consensus for the EV sell-off is of the global chip shortage causing EVs to pause production. However I came across this recent article that says China is stockpiling chips and machines to make them to combat potential US sanctions and be self-reliant. The logic follows that China should weather the chip shortage better than other countries, and that would mean their EV companies should see no slowdown. Given the recent sell-off and China's resilience to the global chip shortage, now could be a great time to invest in Chinese EV companies. I don't have a case of any one company over the other, so investing in all of them or an ETF should be fine. 31. How is this even possible not to be going up daily (14/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Day after day, report after report. Semiconductor shortages worldwide are halting production of anything that uses a computer chip technology to function. The largest manufactures in the world across almost every sector in the world are shutting down and slowing production because they can’t get chips. So my question is, we have always been told about supply and demand. Why are semiconductor companies not going through the roof faster than meme stocks. Fundamentals would dictate if you have more business than you can handle and can sell every chip you make for the next 3-5 years just to catch up, your sales and Profits would exceed predictions. This would cause the stock prices to rise. This isn’t happening and it’s confusing why not. The largest chip manufactures are all building multi billion dollar expansions to keep up with the shortage and demand. So why are chip stocks trading sideways and down in some instances with them making the most desired products worldwide. submitted by /u/stocksnhoops [link] [comments]

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/02/tesla-tsla-q1-2021-vehicle-production-and-delivery-numbers.html Tesla just reported first-quarter vehicle production and delivery numbers for 2021. In total, it delivered 184,800 vehicles and produced 180,338 cars. All of the electric vehicles it produced were Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossover SUVs, though it also delivered 2,020 Model S sedans and Model X SUVs. Tesla stock is still overvalued at current price. The delivery miss is due to the chip shortage and should be only temporary. With today strong job number, bond yield might raise again and Monday there might be tech stocks selloff again. Investors could buy tesla stocks around $600 and hold for long term. Tesla should be able to mitigate the chip shortage issue. submitted by /u/coolcomfort123 [link] [comments]

  39. Chip shortages mean a lot more work at chip company Besi (15/05/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
Chip company Besi had to significantly increase its production in the first quarter to meet strong customer demand. The supplier to the chip industry mainly benefited from the strong demand for chips for applications around the fast 5G technology and from the automotive sector, which has been struggling with a chip shortage since the outbreak of the pandemic. Besi does not make chips itself, but machines for packaging and processing chips, for example. They also make devices with which chips are glued to 'motherboards', for example. Expanding the production lines still continues to meet the demand. Besi says, like the rest of the industry, it suffers from "unique uniqueness in production". For example, there are shortages of important and somewhat less important things that the chip company uses. Also in the field of transport and logistics, things are not going as smoothly as normal for the corona pandemic. Partly due to the transport problems, the turnover in the measurement period was slightly lower than Besi had previously estimated. Turnover rose in the fourth quarter by 10 percent by EUR 30.5 million to EUR 143.2 million. The order book will rise to EUR 327.1 million. Profit fell slightly to 37.6 million euros due to the elimination of a tax gain. Besi expects revenue to increase by 30 percent to 40 percent in the second quarter, due to ongoing chip shortages worldwide. submitted by /u/Illustrious-Wear6986 [link] [comments]

  42. so since there's a chip shortage going on is now the time to buy stock in the auto industry? (13/05/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
As i'm sure you've heard their is a shortage of chip/ semiconductors. These chips power our electronics, many of which are now being used in vehicles. In short, some of the auto industry plants are shutting down bc there aren't enough chips to continue building the cars. so, in my line of thinking some of the auto industry stocks' are going to fall bc they are losing money. This is also making the price of cars soar and people on a budget will probably just wait it out to buy since this is supposed to be over by 2022. So the auto industry is losing money in more than one way. For instance, Honda is already undervalued but if this chip shortage continues the stock could fall further and become very undervalued. Thoughts? side note: Glad I bought a new car last year submitted by /u/moodring88 [link] [comments]
