  28. Jobless claims fall to lowest level of the pandemic (25/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
New jobless claims fell to the lowest levels of the pandemic era, federal data shows, with 684,000 being filed last week. The previous weekly high was 695,000, set in October 1982. Initial unemployment claims fell by 97,000, another sign that the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic is easing. An additional 241,745 filed claims for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, for gig and self-employed workers. The total number of claims for all types of unemployment benefits was 18.95 million for the week ending March 6, according to Department of Labor data. The surge in new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations has slowed in recent weeks, though health officials are eyeing states that have removed restrictions on businesses and mask-wearing. The United States has seen a 4 percent rise in new cases in the past week. But Americans are still holding out hope that increasingly broadened access to the coronavirus vaccines are the key to returning to work, more job availability, and an improved economy. Nearly 14 percent of the U.S. population, or about 46,365,000 people, have completed vaccination. 30. Approval for "level 3" on etrade? (25/06/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
Apologies if this has been asked here before, couldn't find it in the search. Recently had the realization that I was a fool for buying as many naked calls as I always have and that spreads would have saved me a lot of pain over the years. Apparently I needed approval for them though on etrade, which I applied for earlier this week and got rejected for, without a reason being given. Surprising to me because spreads actually seem less risky than naked calls/puts, so not sure why it's off limits. Listed that I'd been trading for 5+ years, shares and options (no bonds), income neither highest nor lowest bracket. My account size is pretty tiny (4 digits), not sure if that's a factor. Anyone know what I would have gotten rejected and what I say/do to reapply and get approved? submitted by /u/username81251 [link] [comments]

BB on the other hand knows that, their partnership with Aptiv launching taxis in LA is another sign of it. Hi all, I've been following this stock for a while. They tried a bold "budget long-haul" move (flying budget US and Asia from EU) and they struggled to go into green numbers, then they took a lot of beating due to B737Max situation and Covid afterwards. They almost went bankrupt, but Norwegian government gave them a hand. It seems like they recovered from risk of bankruptcy as they went through seemingly succesfull restructuring. Result: Abandoned long-haul and fortify Nordic/EU market instead Reduced secured debt by ~84% and unsecured by 21-33%, becoming one of the airlines in EU with lowest debt and lowest Net Debt/ Market Cap. Decreased amount of aircrafts from ~110 to ~51 Raised cash from 2,7B NOK (Q4 2020) to ~7B NOK (now) that makes them ready to operate and swiftly react to turbulent post-covid demands. They did it among others by: Cancelling ALL orders of 185 new planes from Boeing/Airbus worth ~10B USD Simplifying and optimizing short-haul operations with flexible Power-By-Hour deals (if not demand due to covid etc., they don't fly) Reduced employees from 10k to 4k Investment through Norwegian state fund, now in top 4 shareholders. Due to the previous situation and release of bunch of new shares, price of NAS dropped from 14k NOK to 11 NOK in past 3 years. Being in a good financial shape after restructuring at the time of Covid recovery, is it the right time to invest now? sources: Annual General Meeting presentation Norwegian Air Shuttle press releases submitted by /u/itzprintz [link] [comments]

  48. GEO Group will come in stronger than expected (30/04/2021 - Reddit Stock Market)
he market is sometimes quick to think in absolutes and the real world is anything but absolute. There are numerous variables that are impacting a business at any given moment in time. For GEO, the largest impact of COVID has been the decline in border crossings. With fewer immigrants allowed into the country, they have seen their occupancy decline at their ICE facilities, even as they remained more stable in their other facilities. This was on top of the declines the US had already seen in recent years. Since Trump was elected, 2017 and 2020 were the two lowest years for immigration on record. It is hardly a leap to believe that a Biden administration is going to be more immigration friendly. Additionally, the economy is a huge contributor towards the motivation for crossing the border. As the economy recovers from COVID, an improving job environment will encourage more immigrants. The end result is that GEO's occupancy is already at rock bottom. The only place for it to go is up. The market is assuming that the blue wave is a negative for GEO. In reality, it is a huge positive for their occupancy levels and as GEO's results improve, their share price will as well. Today, you can get an incredible 11% yield that is well covered by cash flows during the COVID impact. GEO's price could easily go back to being in excess of $20, for 230% potential upside. submitted by /u/CarlyBriant [link] [comments]

  49. I feel nauseated, because I'm making money... (30/03/2021 - Reddit Stocks)
I don't know if these sorts of posts are allowed here, but let me say... I grew up in one of the worst kind of environments you can imagine here in the US. I've been disabled my entire life with multiple disabilities. I've been through absolute hell for most of my life. I dropped out in the 6th grade, but I've always been one of the "smart kids", I just hated my school environment. FF to now, I recently got into trading on the market. I've never been able to really get or hold a job, I've been scraping by on less than $1000 a month for all of my life. I've been making at least $20 a day with a $5000 account with paper trading over a month now with a system I follow. I have about $5000 IRL to trade with, I feel fucking shook y'all. The idea of having security, of the absence of fear surrounding not having a roof over my head, or food to eat is almost too much to bear. I've never had this the entire 35 years I've been on this planet. How do you even deal with this much potential joy after years and years of anxiety and depression? I'd be happy just making a tiny bit extra, the thought of making $20+ a day is just nauseating. submitted by /u/UntamedAnomaly [link] [comments]
